The Doctor seems to have a nasty habit of dropping off life forms at companions’ homes. :D I wonder if he ever left anything for anyone else.
I really really really really really really really really just want the Doctor to visit Ian in like a quick cutaway at the end of an episode. Maybe he can fail epically at dropping something off for him and Barbara and get caught at the door.

What is this K-9 headcanon of which you speak? *eagerly awaits heart twisting angst*
I've been deciding whether I think it's S18 Four, after Romana leaves or if it's Five after the Five Doctors.
If it's Four, it's probably more out of regret, etc. so he might actually want to see her. Idk, I haven't quite worked out how to have Four accidentally run across her and Harry....that's really where the ultimate angst comes in (....because of other possible headcanon that Sarah stays at UNIT for a bit after Hand of Fear (Brig doesn't think she's okay and doesn't want to leave her alone....he's been through this before, so he'd know how it feels) and that's when she writes up a lot of those reports. Harry, being the nice, caring chap he is, probably attempts to comfort her...maybe they go out for awhile, then Sarah returns to her old investigative journalist self, starts moving around the country for stories and the like, which Harry can't stand because he'd rather her be in one place and he can take care of her anyways, so yeah then that gets ruined) (also I have a separate AU where Four tries to go back for Sarah, overshoots to after SJA time (or close to her death in universe), is depressed/angry at self, leaves...basically a wake up call a la 'all my friends are dead')
Five's version might be a tad less angsty. After the Five Doctors he might have a case of the feels and think that giving Sarah a K-9 is appropriate. Yes, I know she has the K-9 before in her timeline, but Five doesn't know that (wibbly wobbly timey wimey). Buuuuut since we didn't get to see Five's face during that handshake, I'm not sure what kind of feels he had, so I haven't made further progress on this front. (this probably feeds off of a thought that Four forgot/displaced memories of things that happened before Deadly Assassin...essentially he forgets Sarah was a person, which is why he couldn't remember what he was going to do in the start of Face of Evil...but she's in his memories in Castrovalva, so idk)
There's a few versions of each of these, but not fleshed out enough to be interesting in words.
