"There really is no individual. We're all just one. And when you realize that, you're free to just be as you are, to just do as you do." Spiritual stuff like this flows freely from the soulful depths of Te'devan, a nomadic wanderer we ran into (were drawn to?) at Sundance last month. It's hard not to: he's 6'7", wears kaleidoscopic ponchos and paint-splashed skinny jeans -- free from a girl who couldn't sell them off at Buffalo Exchange -- and breaks into spontaneous dance whenever music enters the scene. Te'devan was born in New York, honed his intellect at the University of Michigan, and currently calls Austin, TX, his home (his girlfriend lives there).
For the majority of the year, though, Te'devan's always roving -- his earthly possessions fit into a tiny duffle bag. He spends his days making new acquaintances, traipsing about festivals, and enlightening conversations -- and his nights on friends' floors and couches. He meditates daily (three to five hours), and tries to bring light to everyone he meets. "It's like, right now we're looking at gun control, but really what we need to look at is mind control. It's about finding balance. You know?"
