Third book!
This is not a complete text by a single author, but a collection of texts and quotes curated by Marina Patanero and Tea Pecunia.
I enjoyed finding passages and names that I am familiar with, I just hoped that this would feel jess disjointed as a whole. It is faithful to the structure of collections of tales and teachings and historical anecdotes that you can find in the writings left by sword masters, as the two authors say, but it is not a book that you can just read in one sitting. I think that I’ll enjoy it more in the future by randomly open a page and reading a couple of quotes and move on.
The fact that they picked quotes from different works and periods of each author’s life did not help, I think, because the same reasoning tends to be repeated or contradicted before it is time to begin another author’s little collection of teachings.
I’ve always liked philosophy and history and learning, though, so I can say that I enjoyed this.
