I'm pretty sure if the roles where reversed and Ben never became Kylo but instead, Rey did, and Ben sliced her face open, shot her with his blaster, called her a monster, everybody would be up in arms and call Ben abusive and toxic and point out all his flaws.  Rey would still the perfect little innocent angel and not be called a “mass-murdering space Nazi”; nothing would be her fault and it all the blame would be on Ben.

Imagining saying a person who was abused, brainwashed, and manipulated their entire life, who had literally no real choice in anything,  did everything their abuser wanted them to in fear of being beaten, saves the person who claimed to care about them but clearly doesn’t give two shits about them,  doesn’t deserve a fucking chance at redemption
