Am I the only one who never liked using "Y/N" in fanfics?
I mean, I know it literally stands for "Your Name" but IDK IT ALWAYS BROKE THE IMMERSION FOR ME😭 So me, I found ways to write around it.
"He passed Y/N the cup." ❌️
"He passed you the cup." ✅️
Another example being...
"I did it because I love you, Y/N" ❌️
"It was always you. Everything was for you. My heart, belongs to you."✅️
This is not me saying this is THE RIGHT WAY to write fanfics. This is just my opinion, and writing style.
I also REALLY REFUSE to use it because of this fucker😭
this site's userbase is so sex positive that it circles back to being aphobic sometimes.
Do ‘feminists’ who believe that Islam is inherently abusive towards women.. Understand the direct damage they cause towards abused Muslim women?
Like, if a Muslim woman were to open up about any abuse she faces (whether from a spouse, or a parent, or someone else in the community) one of the first reactions she may get is ‘Islam abuses women. Islam is a bad religion. Islam is backwards, its behind, its abusive, we need to get rid of it’.
This initial extreme reaction is just making Muslim women afraid of opening up about abuse.
We know that if we mention any abuse, the automatic response (the expectation) will be to give up our religion and our beliefs. These feminists care about us, but only if we conform to that expectation. Otherwise, we’re brainwashed, we’re complacent, we’re part of the problem. Muslim women end up being unsupported by everyone around them, including the very women that claim to want to help abolish abuse against women.
This applies to queer Muslims too. By calling the entirety of Islamic society queerphobic, you indirectly let queer Muslims know that they are not welcome. And they're not. They end up in a state where they are not welcome in their homophobic societies nor in the communities that claim to be 'queer-friendly'. They have to build their own spaces, and then still end up getting constantly attacked from both sides.
Your islamophobia isn't helping anyone.
Note: I've turned notifs off for this post! I will not see any replies/reblogs
hot take but i would still be staunchly against genAI even if it weren’t bad for the environment. i think some people have completely lost the plot in that their main talking point against chatgpt and the like is the environment point rather than… the fact that it is literally theft and turning people’s brains to mush and driving struggling people to suicide
Hot take:
Religious trauma is real, and stories about it absolutely have a place. But I’d love to see more stories where a character realizes the harmful version of Christianity they were taught isn’t the same as Christ.
Give me characters who deconstruct abuse instead of faith.
Give me characters who discover a deeper, kinder, more compassionate Christianity.
Give me doctors, teachers, farmers, artists, scientists, and ordinary people who see their work as their vocation.
Give me faith rooted in love instead of fear.
Not every Christian character’s happy ending has to be walking away from God. Sometimes it’s finally meeting the God they were searching for all along.
hot take about yellowjackets apparently?
i don’t think eating jackie was as much of a bad thing to do as most people make it out to be. obviously cannibalism is wrong in a regular day to day context, however, when you’re with you high school soccer team in the middle of winter in the canadian wilderness, your coach is missing a limb and depressed, you’re running out of your only food source that your schizophrenic teammate killed in the weirdest way possible; is eating a person, who is already dead, truly that unethical? i also don’t think that eating jackie was when the yellowjackets started becoming objectively bad people (it was watching javi die).
maybe this a hot take but i’ve seen a surprising amount of people act like eating jackie was the most deranged thing they could’ve done.
sorry if this is terribly written, i’m drunk as hell.
