Twisted Wonderland Character Tea-Drinking Headcannons

Ace: shitty Starbucks-esque "hibiscus energy iced tea"

Deuce: grocery store brand black tea, sold in bulk

Riddle: high quality loose leaf black tea with rose petals, infused with rose oil extract

Cater: Constant Comment (spiced black tea with orange peel)

Trey: harney & sons "birthday" tea (black tea with decorative, colorful herbs and flowers)

Leona: rooibos

Ruggie: Lipton from the dollar store lol

Jack: Irish breakfast. Served piping hot and black, as God intended

Azul: mint herbal tea (he can't have caffeine, he's anxious enough already lol) also anything relaxing, like lavender and chamomile (Jade makes him drink these)

Jade: kombucha

Floyd: generic brand black tea with artificially sweetened hazelnut creamer (probably more creamer than tea)

Jamil: traditional chai

Kalim: Darjeeling "golden tips" (the youngest, unopened leaves harvested in first flush of the growing season, ie the most hoity-toity expensive tea). He also uses basically a one-to-one ratio of tea to sugar. It's a tea lovers nightmare

Idia: any tea-based energy drink

Ortho: he can't drink tea, he's a robot. He probably likes holding a warm cup and delivering it to his brother though. He would probably try to get idia to drink healthy delicious herbal teas, and he would probably refuse all of them 😭

Vil: Paris tea

Rook: Florence tea

(the above two were an inside joke based on my number one and number two favorite flavored teas)

Epel: dried apple slice/peel/apple pie spiced tea

Sebek: black English Breakfast. He tries to drink it black, anyway. He often ends up having to add cream and sugar though, and he drinks it while sobbing and promising that he'll be stronger tomorrow

Lilia: the dankest, funkiest, most-fermented pu erh available from the Land of Dragons. Also lapsang souchong... basically any kind of tea that is nasty and fermented. He and Jade should hang out and swap disgusting tea-brewing tips (I mean this affectionately, I actually love both of these weird, horrible teas)

Silver: whatever forest leaves and herbs he was able to harvest and dry himself. And/or whatever has the most caffeine. He mostly just drinks coffee though. Ineffectually. Poor kid.

Malleus: he just drinks the tea equivalent of ambrosia. It's some kind of tea kissed by fairies and blessed by wizards under a waxing new moon, that is hand-delivered to NRC monthly. Drinking it will make you see visions of the future. Malleus drinks it every morning and has no idea that it's anything special

I know people include tea bag tags on mugs in media for the same reason you stick some celery out of the grocery bag, but every time all I can think about is their poor over-extracted tea.

So, I’m not much one for herbals, but I am much one for rooibos, it’s such a good solid tea, strong body and such - my big problem with flavored black teas is that i get the nice full body but the flavors are so easily overpowered by the black tea and if they’re not, there’s so much flavor added that it’s sickening. And rooibos is a really good balance between black and not black. A great vehicle for some great flavors, while also having presence and body. A+ tea.

But lately i’ve been really gravitating to this herbal rooibos blend i got from Kristines, she does it in-house so it’s her own blend and y’aaallll.

Chamomiles have never been my thing, I tried so hard to make them my thing, but they never have been. This. This is my thing. This chamomile blossom and dandilion bud and rose petal and spearmint tea. Is my thing. Oooohhh, this is a nice thing. Great body, great smell, easy to brew (5 minutes for ur rooibos’ teas, u gais, at 200 degrees. It’s as strong as a black, so it can stand the boiling water!) great flavors, super relaxing. A+. Such a good purchase. So glad.

aaaaahhhhh Holy shit, i bought a really bice (AND PRICEY) tea from Kristine at the local Womens Expo (shit,s like, 12 bucks an ounce and i got 2 oz)  and I made a cup of it AND IT CAME OUT PERFEEEECT

This was so worth it, I needed this tea. This is such a good tea, this is one of my favorites, it’s a Milk Oolong, and it’sso nice and warm. It’s a thick kinda water, but it’s still super clear and this beautiful amberand augh. augh. just so worth it. That whole Expo was worth it, hot damn, i know a lot more places and businesses to support now! It was kinda like a street fair/vendor stall kinda place, but because it was an expo of all these womens businesses, there was a lot more engaging with people who wer looking at the booths, like, everyone there was super friendly, and everything was AMAZINGLY good, i picked up as many business cards I could so I could keep an eye out for them. Go to your local Womenz Expo if u have one. Do it. So worth it.

I got this REALLY nice fudge while I was there, (here’s the link to the Lady’s business, it looks like she ships!) it was only a li’l block but soooo filling. And made with real Belgian chocolate but also goats milk and goats butter and god does that make an awesome difference, aaaahhh. They’re nearby too, i gotta head out there sometime for realises. She called it her Fat-Ass Fudge, and it’s worth every. fucking. bite.

There was also... I picked up a spinich quiche from the last stand I went to.. didn’t get a card from there, which is unfortunate.

Oh, I got a mojo sauce from another booth! The lady who ran that one, Evie, doesn’t seem to ship her sauces, but I think I can actually contact her to buy them, lmao, and she has Catering on her website?? And she advertises where she sells her mojo and sofrito and adobo??? And her facebook is riddled with recipies??? I’m in heaven???!!

Green Fire Herbs is one of the booths I checked out and WAS NOT ABLE to buy from much to my IMMEDIATE REGRET but her name was Diane and she has a plethora of flavored honey and dude, one of the best things abot my lifer is always knwoing where to finds farm-fresh honey. And I know the store she sells her honeys at so, next paycheck. Going there. It’s decided.

Sparklefly candles is another just cuz they are about 30 BUCKS A POP and while I need candles in my life always, these were mad expensive, but I’m ttly getting these for the holidays. For myself and for my mom. I need this shit. Holy crap. Scented glitter stones. I NEEED that.  I think the one place I can’t find a website for is this girl Wynisha’s booth - cuz that was cosmetics, which I’m not so into, but she also sells massage candles, which is when the candle is made from a base that’s not wax, it’s a lotion that as the candle burns and gives off the scent,. you can use the melted candle as a massage lotion which is not only so cool, but also smells AMAZING. AND HER CARD ON THE ONE SIDE IS SO FUCKING CUTE. SO. FUCKING. CUTE. IT SAYS ‘THANK YOU for being an AMAZING customer and having Fantastic TASTE! From My Heart To Yours’

And that shit is so good and pure i need to find this AGAIN to do more business because that card alone was worth it. Just... god, everyone was so nice and friendly and i WASN’T used to just being ignored to roam and glance over the booths on my own. But it wasn’t bad! I really enjoyed it, actually, there weas a lot there, and they were all really col people. And everyone seemed to be on the same page about their work, all natural ingredients, no preservatives, gluten-free I saw a lot.... I’m sad I didn’t pick up more cards or bring more money. Ah wel. Next year.

One of my favorite loose-leaf teas is my Nilgiri frost Oolong, cuz it’s got such a different and distinct flavor, y’know?

…I mean, I would know if I was able to fucking taste it normally.

I dunno what it is about what I’m doing or how I’m doing it, but I never quite seem to brew it right.  The aftertaste is always odd? And I always have to choke down the first infusion (cuz oolongs are never their best on the first infusion) but only when I make it at home? Never when Kristine makes it at the tea shop?

I think it’s cuz of the oxidation levels – cuz oolongs come in different degrees of oxidization, whereas other teas tend to be on one spectrum or another. And so highly-oxidized oolongs need hotter water (closer to 195F) and lighter-oxidized oolongs need it lighter (around 180F) and the Nilgiri frost is a mid-oxidized oolong. Which means somewhere in the middle. And it’s harder to measure cuz the leaves are so big.

I need to invest in a gram measure – I think I’m doing the temperature right, I’m about 95% certain it’s how much I’m using. I think I’m overkilling it every damn time cuz I’m using tablespoons and not the gram measure. They’re too big to fit in the tablespoon properly, lol.

I'm sorry if this is a silly headcanon but I've always imagined Severus to be strictly traditional with his tea, even a bit snobbish about it, so how do you think he'd react to discovering his partner's addiction to boba tea xD

I think that he’d realize that tea is not a British invention, and has a long history in the respective asian countries that it originates from, so that boba tea is actually just as valid as traditional British tea service.

Plus those tapioca pearls are freaking delicious.
