In my experience most people whom I ever speak to about future career plans as a teacher are quick to encourage me, but do caution me on the abysmal pay. maybe its this cautionary note that you are interpreting as a statement of disapproval.
I've actually yet to have anyone mention pay to me. Which is a little surprising. They all seem to stick to how horrible the profession is. And I get that.
Pay comments wouldn't bother me though. I spent two miserable weeks working in the office of a roofing company (my worst post-college job yet) for just barely above minimum wage last summer with my fancy degree. And I barely pay my bills with my current job. So my opinion on what constitutes a decent payscale is pretty low to begin with.

haha everyone tells me i’m brave for wanting to teach high school. What subject do you want to teach?
I can have a double emphasis with the program I'm interested in so given my undergrad degree and minor I'll be able to teach Social Studies or English.

Teaching is super fun, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. And middle schoolers are SO FUN. They’re nuts, but they’re awesome. :D good luck with your training, etc. :)

“Assvice” is the greatest non-word in the history of non-words and I am going to use it as often as humanly possible in my daily conversations.
Right?! Assvice is my favorite non-word ever. I stole it from Amalah.
