Just because you have a habit doesn’t necessarily mean you are autistic. I have a lot of “signs” (I guess) of Asperger’s, but a psychologist diagnosed me as neurotypical. Could just be personality traits.
It's not so much a habit as like, apparently taking several seconds to process speech (like the person says something and it sounds like gibberish, I start to say, "What?" and then oops it clicked never mind I know what you said now) is a thing? Or like, not liking eye contact. I know I'm supposed to, so I do, but I don't like it. Or I'll be talking, and have no idea that the person is actually bored by it or not. But I've been told in the past that I talk too much and bore people, so I'm constantly like "AM I BORING THIS PERSON? WHAT IF I AM? DO I JUST STOP TALKING? DO I KEEP GOING? I MEAN I LIKE THIS SUBJECT BUT WHAT IF THEY DON'T GAAAH."
At the same time, I'm really sensitive to when someone else is embarrassing themselves (even in stuff like romantic comedies where it's supposed to be funny), so like, it's not like I can't pick up the temperature of the room at all? It's just not all the time.

Autism comes with a developmental delay and Asperger’s is now under the Autism Spectrum Disorder in the DSM V. I’m not sure about the ICD 10. :/ But.. (cont)
I personally think diagnoses are silly. If you aren’t experiencing anything that makes day to day functioning impossible or anything that causes you great distress/ruins your life then don’t worry about it. Just be you.
Asperger's doesn't have a cognitive delay though. There's no language or cognitive delay, maybe a motor delay.
And like, it doesn't cause me particularly great distress or impairment, but then, I don't know. I like explanations. And it'd be nice to know if it's normal to do the things I do or if there's another reason for it.

just because you sneeze doesn’t mean you have a cold… or some other analogy that is similarly significant. Also, if you do fall on the autism spectrum, you’ve been doing pretty well, so does it really matter?

My family is FULL of autism! Unless you’re actively having major problems caused by it, there isn’t much purpose to an adult diagnosis aside from genetic counselling if you decide to have kids. But it’s interesting!
Like I said, I don't think I have a major problem, I just want to know if there's a reason behind my behavior at all.

You can’t be too old to be diagnosed! Also - yeah, a lot of non-autistic people do autistic behaviors. I do. But it’s the amount of the behavior and if/how it interferes with your daily life that leads to it being a symptom of autism.
Ah, that's the thing I don't know. Like, how much of my behavior is "that's a thing that most people do" and how much is "that's something only people with autism or Asperger's do" and how much is "normally I would do that thing, but I don't because I've learned over time that People Don't Do That Thing so I know not to."

There are plenty of people who have to self-diagnose because they don’t have the means/ ability to see a professional but they still need the tangible help of having answers and the solutions that come with them. Nothing wrong with that at all. :)
I know that in theory. In practice, I'm worried that I might get it wrong. I don't want to be wrong.
