"A cold wind blew as Kerstin's recent bite wound oozed puss and blood. A weak cough emitted from her bleeding mouth as a devastated Rayne cradled the slowly transforming Kerstin shakily in her arms. "Shush... everythings going to be okay..." Rayne whispered softly; holding her best friend tightly despite the fear in her heart. She gasped as a trembling Kerstin gripped her hand weakly and squeezed it slightly.

"Kill me." Kerstin managed to make out through her stuttering. Rayne's eyes grew wide at her dying friend's request. She stared at Kerstin's eyes, which were now beginning to turn an eerie yellow and her skin began to grow tan-like and crusty. 

"I-I can't..." Rayne replied, tears beginning to leak from the corners of her eyelids. "How can I bare to lose you...? When... when... Shiny and Madeleine are already dead?" Rayne's blood turned to ice as she remembered how Shiny's body began mutating at a rapid rate. She recalled Amber screaming for Rayne to shoot him before it was too late; and the distant voice of the dead Madeleine whispering the same pleas. And Madeleine; who had become so crippled she had been too slow to escape a hungry lone zombie's jaws. Rayne had sitten next to her fallen friend and had slowly snapped the transforming snow leopard's neck just as she had turned deadly. Both thoughts shook the already traumatized Rayne to the bone. 

Kerstin only chuckled meekly at her friend's words. Through her dying eyes, Rayne could see the traces of sadness forming in the now almost-yellow sockets. The gleam of humanity slowly fading away from them... "I won't be alone... just do it Rayne... you still have Amber... and I'll still be watching over you..." Kerstin erupted into a coughing fit; and Rayne winced as droplets of scarlet blood splattered the two of them. "A-And... i-it won't be just... me..." The seed of curiosity entered Rayne's chest as her dying friend nodded solemnly towards what seemed like nothing. Realization struck her when she saw the faint outlines of Shiny and Madeleine; their dead comrades. "Now do it... Rayne..." Kerstin wheezed, Rayne panicking as she began squirming in her arms. "Kill me!" Kerstin screamed before it became inhuman. Rayne forced herself to kick the now transformed Kerstin away from her and scramble her belt for her loaded pistol. The zombie growled and hissed as she hit the hard surface of the road, and then looked at her living former comrade straight in the eyes; eyes which were now filled with hatred and rage. 

Rayne swallowed back vomit as she aimed for the undead Kerstin's forehead, and her fingertips touched the trigger of the pistol. In a blur, the bullet was shot. 

In the distance Rayne heard the screams of alarmed infected. But she didn't care. She just continued staring at Kerstin's corpse; seeds of regret forming around her heart like thistles. "I'm sorry." Rayne whispered, turning her eyes away as she said them. As she began walking back towards the jeep where Amber waited; Rayne casted one more glance at her friend.

Fate is cruel."

"tealtongue and nightfrost came from the underground aka was born into the clan normally from secret lovers and they never knew who their parent were

for somereason tealtongue was unspeakably ugly and different while nightfrost was fine

and so they grew up normally

climbing trees for fun and then tealtongue smacking nightfrost off of the trees

nnormal stuff

but tealtongue was a jealous mofo

so she was mean and attacked random people
