In this AU the gems are not gems like in the show, they are corrupted humans due to how the region was corrupted in the past, some may have abilities but not to the extent in the show, this is to keep them grounded but still keep the look they had in the show.
This is a Steven universe and Pokemon crossover project. The idea is to make the creatures, gems, and monsters from SU into pokemon, which yes includes giving the original creature a pokemon dex entry as if it were a pokemon. This project follows the themes of pokemon and guidelines for how evolutions and design looks. This project isn’t to design “better’ pokemon then the games.
