i know we’re all still caught up in the tragedy of japan's robbery, but can we take a moment to talk about how eteri cost georgia an olympic medal too? both her athletes totally underperformed (nika egadze and davis/smolkin) and there’s no eteri bonus on olympic ice anymore lol

Team Event Skating Notes

The Skating Team Event is done so here are some of my notes.

Overall

both Team USA and Team Japan were extraordinary, both deserved to win

Team Italy made me really happy, they had so many good programs, they really deserved their modal

it was one of the best Ice Dance events

i loved so many programs from all teams

mistakes sneaked in more than i expected

most of the events had me speechless

also what are the medals made of? i’ve seen several destroyed already from various events

Team USA

they are very good overall, they have so many talents

Madison Chock and Evan Bates were essential, they were constant perfection, they did everything correctly, Ice Dance was their best event

the pairs long program was exactly what they needed, honestly Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea really came in clutch, I hope they’ll have a good run in the individual event

Alyssa Liu and Amber Glenn made some mistakes but it’s human and they tried their best, I hope they’ll have it better in the individual event

Ilia Malinin changed things around, saved some of his best tricks for the individual event and I truly hope he’ll do flawlessly there because here Team USA was lucky with the difficulty of his elements (and with the Ice Dance Event)

they are doing incredible elements but sometimes the execution isn’t there

they have a pretty secure future

Team Japan

the pairs event was really good for them, Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara were incredible to watch

Kaori Sakamoto was on another level, just stunning, really hoping for a medal in the individual event for her

Yuma Kagiyama and Shun Sato were flawless, really want them to do well in the individual event 

the talent this team has is incredible, it was very close

they have the execution but not the difficulty level

Team Italy

they deserved this medal so much, the emotions in their performances was out of this world

the free dance program was really nice to watch, Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri did a sensational job 

Lara Naki Gutmann had an incredible run, i like the energy of her programs, i hope she’ll do well in the individual event

the men free skate was so elegant and emotional, i was in awe, Daniel Grassl and Matteo Rizzo were a joy to watch, I hope they’ll do well in the individual event

Team Italy was a delight to watch for me, they are all so elegant and emotional, it’s like watching a movie or a painting in the best way

they are the emotion and artistry, not necessarily the elements to win

Team Georgia

the pairs event was really good for them, Anastasiia Metelkina and Berulava Luka did a great job, i liked their programs, I look forward for their other events

Anastasiia Gubanova was essential for them, she did really good

not the strongest team but I’d say they did a good job in the end, I quite liked some of the programs they presented

Team Canada

i liked the free dance more than the rhythm dance, Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha really made an impression on me, I wish for them to do well in the individual event

overall, Team Canada wasn’t my favourite, maybe they need a strategy change for the next Olympics
