who else is obsessed? it's such a mystery! like, i want to know who the good singers are, but i also want them to do well and keep going. ugh idk if i feel like waiting.

The bad news is that Jon is actually Dany’s nephew and thus will not be King in the North for much longer.

The good news is that the Lannisters and Team Dragon will be much more trustworthy allies to the Starks than Littlefucker and his peeps!

There's always a complication

Tyrion is the purest part of Dany's alliance at this point. 

 The Greyjoys are on her side, and they're good peeps, but what they really want is independence for the Iron Islands, and now they're in trouble. 

 Varys and Melisandre are on Dany's side, but they have baggage. Putting it briefly. Mel doesn't really serve Dany, she serves the prophecy. Varys's support of Dany's cause is genuine, but she'll never be able to trust him the way she trusts Tyrion. 

 The Dothraki are on her side as long as she's healthy. Let's just hope she doesn't suffer a head injury or a debilitating infection. Even when they're totally loyal, the Dothraki are a blunt instrument. They won't help her make decisions. 

The Unsullied are trustworthy. They're a sharp instrument. They also will not help her make decisions. 

Then we have the actual villains in this team, Olenna Tyrell and Ellaria Sand. They don't really care about Dany winning as much as they care about doing as much damage as possible to the Lannisters. Ellaria Sand is now a captive of the other side, and I don't think she'll live much longer. That still leaves Olenna, who's telling Dany to "be a dragon" and ignore her clever Hand, Tyrion. Olenna has already told us who she is: she's the sort of person who's willing to conspire with Littlefinger, and that's when things are going well for her. Now that shit's gone down the drain, she has told us in as many words: she doesn't care about survival. She won't live long enough to see the long-term consequences of Dany's conquest, and without her beloved Margaery, she doesn't care what she's leaving behind. 

 (Of course, in both books and show, she has other grandchildren, but she doesn't seem to care about them anymore. Gee, thanks, Grandma! I love you too!) 

 Anyway, Olenna doesn't really care about Dany becoming queen. She wants Dany to burn them all. 

 So that leaves us with Tyrion, who is the only one of her advisors whom Dany trusts to have her best interests in mind, and who really wants Dany to succeed and to be good at her job. He knows Dany can be a better ruler than her father (not a high bar), than King Bob, than Joffrey (also not a high bar), than his father, than Cersei, and he wants to help her do it. He has the skill set to help her do it. She could not have chosen a better Hand. 

 It's just way too perfect for anything on Game of Thrones. 

 The only complication is that Tyrion is quite obviously besotted with Dany. That could cloud his judgment, just a little. He could do an outstanding job as her Hand while dripping with unrequited love for his queen. He could also lead her into some big, hairy mistakes. 

 I don't think his problem will be in letting his affection for his queen screw up his judgment, though. And I don't think he's going to die. Not this season, anyway. The part where it really gets hairy is where Tyrion has already told us who he is: as much as he acts like he has nothing but antagonism for the Lannisters, he still loves his brother. The one who killed Dany's father. 

Dany knows this, and she still trusts him, but those affections could lead Tyrion into an emotional conflict. 

 I've already made the case for a Stark-Lannister alliance coming by way of Brienne's reunion with Jaime. "The Lannisters" will be redefined as Jaime's command rather than Cersei's. 

The complication will be that Tyrion chooses Jaime over Dany. Which is not necessarily a bad thing for the realm, as the Stark-Lannister alliance will be focused on defeating the White Walkers. But it'll mean a crisis of priorities for Dany.

Dreaming all night about hanging out with JD and Peter almost made up for missing meeting John again in person yesterday. I am ok though. I miss you but I'm ok.
