LUGE - TEAM RELAY

Inaugural event composed of one woman, one man and a doubles pair who each make a run for a cumulative time.

Not only did Germany win the individual luge events, Natalie Geisenberger (54.095 in the team event vs. 49.765 in the singles event), Felix Loch (55.639 vs. 51.613) and Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt (55.915 vs. 49.373) came together to sweep the newly-minted team relay event with a total time of 2:45.649. Russia followed with 2:46.679, comprised of Tatiana Ivanova (54.429, third, vs. 50.450, seventh), Albert Demchenko (55.775, second, vs. 51.707, second) and Alexander Denisyev/Vladislav Antonov (56.475, third, vs. 49.936, fifth). Latvia squeezed into third with 2:47.295, comprised of Elīza Tīruma (54.745, fifth, vs. 50.650, 12th), Mārtiņš Rubenis (56.048, fourth, vs. 52.133, tenth) and Andris/Juris Šics (56.502, 4th, vs. 49.880, 3rd).

Latvia takes their second bronze medal in the Sochi olympics - luge team relay. True country heroes - Eliza Tiruma, Martins Rubenis , Andris Sics and Juris Sics. Thank you, guys :)
