Zap2it Social Media Showdown 2015: 'Supernatural's' Jensen Ackles crowned king
After an intense month of battle and sleepless nights of poll voting (MUST KEEP CLICKING), and over 12 MILLION total votes cast, Jensen Ackles has taken the Zap2it Social Media Showdown crown from "Supernatural" co-star Misha Collins.
Winning the Social Media Showdown is even more impressive when you remember that, while he's been on Facebook for a while, with over 4.5 million followers, Ackles only joined the Twitterverse in August 2014, and just hit over 1 million followers there a few weeks ago.
It's pretty awesome, just saying.
The final rounds of the showdown saw some tense moments, especially amongst the "Supernatural" family fandom, which was divided between their two stars. In the end, Ackles came out on top with over 53 percent of the final votes -- which totaled almost 2 million. Congratulations to the Ackles warriors who organized vote parties and kept those clicker fingers going to bring home the victory.
Though Collins is no longer the reigning champ, his fans put up a valiant effort; it was a very close matchup. Collins sailed through his first rounds of competition, but the Mishdom really stepped up their game to get him past "Outlander"star Sam Heughan. In the end, if Collins was going to hand the crown over it seems fitting for it to go to Ackles.
