This doesn't need a response, I just remembered it from seeing the pokemon stuff: One time I asked my friend what pokemon would fit Anankos. I was expecting something like Salamance or Hydreigon, or maybe one of the legendary dragon types. What did she suggest? Goodra's line. Not a Salamance or Hydreigon.... Goodra. AKA the thing more likely to give you a big gooey hug than to actually hurt you. (Also as someone whose favorite pokemon is Giratina, I highly approve of Grima being a Giratina.)
Ooh ooh I’ve actually thought a little about this I’ll start by saying I love the idea of Anankos having a Goodra? I love my melted sugar cube/gumdrop dragons, they make me so happy ;v;
From a conceptual standpoint, though, I really enjoy the idea of the main dragons having a corresponding legendary – hence why Grima is a Giratina (and it’s not just because I really like Giratina or anything – I do, to be honest – but I think the parallels between Grima and Giratina fit better than another legendary like Yvetal). So the last time I thought about this and started playing around with Fates characters, I was toying with the idea of Anankos being Kyurem! With the understanding that I still don’t know a huge amount about Fates, I swear I heard somewhere that Hoshido and Nohr both traced their royal lineages back to different dragons: the Dawn Dragon for Hoshido, the Dusk Dragon for Nohr. And in Valla there was a third, forgotten by both: the Silence Dragon Anankos. And while the myth goes that each dragon was separate from the outset, my mind immediately went to the possibility that the myths were scrambled, and there was only ever one dragon, but as each nation developed separately their stories morphed until each swore by what seemed to be their own unique divine. And that led me to Unova and the story of Kyurem, who was torn apart by warring aspects of humanity into the Vast White Reshiram and the Deep Black Zekrom, leaving only a hollow shell of ice behind – all of which could go a long way to explain Anankos’ bitterness and desire to conquer both Hoshido and Nohr.
(It also brings up the fascinating concept that rather than just a Kyurem/Reshiram and Kyurem/Zekrom fusion, there’s actually a form that combines all three dragons back into their original form, which sounds really cool to me so I tried to draw it)
