In January, eleven year old Michael Morones attempted to take his own life because he was bullied relentlessly for his love of My Little Pony. The You Will Rise Project is partnering with Circus Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio to host Art+Drag For Michael on May 30. Proceeds from the benefit, which will include a display of original artwork created in Michael's honor and performances by a variety of entertainers, will be donated to help with Michael's medical expenses and the important work of the Michael Morones Foundation. The show will feature performances by drag queen hostess Vivian VonBrokenhymen, comedienne Brooke Cartus, Movement Activities Aerial Dance, members of the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus, and many others. Michael's mother, Tiffany Morones-Suttle, is attending the event and will be presented with a hardbound book containing all of the "Art For Michael" pieces submitted to the You Will Rise Project and published online at http://artformichael.com. Art+Drag For Michael is being sponsored by Creative Foundations, Freedom to Marry Ohio, and Spinelli's Deli. Tickets for the event are available now. A table for 4 is $50, and general admission (standing room) is $10. The event takes place Friday, May 30 from 8-10 pm at Circus Restaurant, located at 1227 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43201.
