Generation We
They call us all sorts of different stuff. The most technical, "Generation Y", simply because we succeed "Generation X".
One that I like in particular, "Generation We" refers to our great sense of community and team spirit. We're highly team oriented, growing up involved in many competitive sports and groups, learning to work well with others and a feeling of group effort.
I can really relate to this. I grew up involved in all sorts of extra curricular activities. From being in instrumental music for 9 years, to being in various clubs, being on the swim team, representative on ASB, etc, etc. I'll get to being called "Generation Me" later but despite what some people may think, we have a strong sense of helping each other out. We really do. Because we had to work together to achieve a certain goal and that's what we did.
Especially for me. It's ingrained in me to think about the whole team and not just myself. Which carries over across all aspects of my life. My family, my friends, my job.
So when at work, if my colleagues are suffering, and I'm suffering, it hurts. We're one unit, working together with a common goal and I feel the need to try to make things better for everyone, because it will affect me too.
But I don't want to go into too much detail yet, because I still have some more prefacing to do.
