A couple of shippy requests for @dtkfan101 and @teampurple! My first time doing anything with Heavy, and I think it came out pretty cute. (His proportions are even wonkier than Medic’s, though! Difficult to get him to look right.) Demoman gets a leather jacket because he looks so naked in just his jumpsuit.
Also, I thought up little vignettes/headcanons for each of these, for people who’re into that kind of thing.
First...
Yeah, okay, you could call it a book club. A really low-key, exclusive book club, an excuse to spend time together that has nothing to do with guns or blood or needles. (Unless they read a book about those things, naturally.) They prefer to read novels with both English and Russian versions so that Heavy can easily follow along while Medic reads sections aloud, a pleasant way for Heavy to improve his English skills. Medic’s also picked up a bit of Russian, which he’s inordinately proud of.
Medic especially enjoys how comfortable it is to sit like this, easy on his overworked back, as well as the vibrating rumble of Heavy’s voice. There are also the striking insights Heavy will chime in with, usually after a long silence, since Medic does most of the talking. Seemingly out of nowhere, Heavy will make a keen observation Medic would never have considered. He’s developed a deep respect for the way the other man thinks.
For his part, Heavy enjoys listening to Medic chatter and laugh about the book at hand and whatever thoughts it sparks in his mind, even when the discussion gets very off-topic. It’s part of the fun. And while he won’t openly admit it, Heavy’s favorite part is how this highly educated man is happy to even have these discussions with him, without talking down to him or dismissing his ideas. When Heavy speaks, Medic listens, and that means the world.
Second...
There are times when Medic has to face the possibility that Demo is actually bad for him. Not compatibility-wise, since they get along well and have plenty of fun. No, this is a measurable, quantifiable health risk.
This is exactly what runs through his head after indulging in a milkshake—itself a risky proposition—and suddenly realizing that he’s drunk, and then noticing the bottle of good Kentucky bourbon tucked under Demo’s arm. And THEN recognizing said bourbon as belonging to Engineer, who Medic is reasonably sure has sworn to never again share liquor with Demoman. For obvious reasons.
But god, he looks amazing in that leather jacket.
In my little TF2 universe, Medic’s been in relationships with both of these guys, at different times and with different levels of seriousness, so these are both equally valid! Enjoy!
