Hello tea mutual do you have tea drinking headcanons for any jojo characters?
Unsurprisingly, I have them for almost everyone, so I'm going to do only the main gang for now so that I don't run out of people to talk about pfpf
(cut for length)
Bruno: I think he would really like the classic Earl Grey. Honestly. It is a classic for a reason. The flavours create a wonderful compositions that creates a beautiful, coherent whole. It's gorgeous.
The tea itself has cornflower petals, making it so that their sky blue colour pops out even in the dry loose leaves! They give it a pleasant, slightly sweet undertone, rounded out with the bitterness of its black tea base with bergamot oil, making the taste more refreshing. It's a great choice at any point of the day, making it especially good when you want a solid, reliable choice to keep you going throughout the day.
An important variation to note for Bruno: Lady Grey! It leans into the citrus profile of this specific tea more, introducing lemon peel into the mix. And the name has no implications whatsoever :3c
Fugo: I'm tempted to say he would have a green, maybe floral or fruity tea. It's sort of like meditation for him, I imagine. Focusing on the colour, on the flavour, on the temerature in order to try and relax in the moment, bordering on a mindfulness practice, but he's a repressed 16 year old and doesn't even realise that's what he's doing. Maybe something like a jasmine sencha? Jasmine has a very specific flavour that lingers around for a bit. It's a rather bold flavour, which could be a nice combination when paired with sencha as its taste is relatively strong for a green tea, too.
He likes trying new teas and exploring the way they can taste, but always keeps his favourites at bay, as familiarity breeds comfort.
Fugo has a more refined palate due to his upbringing, presumably making him more likely to enjoy the nuance in different teas. Dabbling in oolong a lot, I imagine. Would either love or absolutely despise milk oolong. Testing required 🙂↕️
He wouldn't let anyone else make his tea because they will certainly use water that is too hot or fuck up the steeping sometimes. Trust
Abbacchio: Gunpowder tea. It's a green tea, stronger than sencha, among the strongest green teas actually, but that's what would make it appealing here. The flavour brings your attention to itself, it's very bold, and - much like the name would suggest - almost smokey!
He probably wouldn't care all that much about bringing the water to a proper temperature before adding the leaves, torturing it with a scalding hot bath and leading to the release of more tannings, making its flavour more bitter. But that's okay 👍 That just makes it pack an even stronger punch and by god does he need a strong drink.
Interesting suggestion also: fancy sparkling tea because it looks like champagne and i want to have it so bad it makes me look stupid. abbacchio too ngl but i digress
Narancia: Would saying /fruity tea/ be a low hanging fruit (ahaha)
I think it would be very cute if he were to find comfort in green tea because Fugo makes it for them when tutoring him, especially in the evenings when he could be particularly distracted. He tries to make it sometimes but ultimately becomes the reason why Fugo prepared to brew it himself.
He would like teas similar to the ones Bruno drinks, too. So, today I'm going to assign him a ceylon-based tea with a generous amount orange peel and rose petals. Rose has a very particular sweetness that feels very cosy, similarly to orange. I think they would make a nice blend with more pronounced flavours than what you would find in an Earl Grey, insisting on experiencing the aromas more separately.
Mista: Rooibos! It's not exactly a tea per sé, as it doesn't come from camellia synensis, but it's close enough. It has a delightful, honey-like flavour. It mixes perfectly with fruit. It's playful and versetile, as due to no caffeine content it can be consumed at exactly any time at all.
The hue of the brew is a mesmerizing shade of red. I think Mista would like vanilla rooibos with mango, making for a very smooth, almost creamy taste enhanced by the honey-ness, while the mango provides an extra depth to it. Normally I'd be tempted to add another flavour here, but that would make four and then he would NOT fucking drink that.
Honorable mention: He would like oolong and black teas, too. They tend to taste stronger, but still allow for playing around with different mix-ins without worrying too much about overshadowing the tea itself.
Heheheh, Mista making cursed teas with Sex Pistols when he's bored >:3 Vanilla green tea with mint kinda deal. It sounds kinda good actually hold on aaaa id drink that... (Is that ooc for him i feel like he would mostly find tea boring. like an "it is what it is" kinda thing. maybe he'd like it secretly tho... He would like expensive fancy teas but not tell anyone I think)
They mess around with it with Narancia sometimes too. And fuck around with Fugo with it. My man really can't catch a fucking break 😔
Giorno: Abbacchio's Silver Needle. It's a white tea with an incredible, sweet aroma and a gorgeous, slightly golden colour. It's top shelf stuff. The best traits a white tea can have. It's complex, it's subtle, it's flowery; it's immaculate.
I like to imagine Giorno taking a sip and his shoulders relaxing, just a bit. A second sip, and they slump down some more. With the third one, his eyebrows start to rest calmly above his eyes. Fourth makes him release a sigh that has been waiting in his lungs for a truly long while to escape. With the fifth, his body sinks into the chair he's sitting on, and the sixth finishes the cup, the abrupt end catching him off-guard. But that's fine. And he feels fine.
Honorable mention: Floral white tea. Though it's usually not going to be as high quality, it's amazing in almost every combination. Florals match white teas incredibly well, each playing off the other's strenghts, making for a very compelling flavour profile.
Honorable mention 2: Mugicha. Though Giorno doesn't remember almost anything of Japan, the taste of storebought, premade mugicha tastes vaguely familiar, and that makes him feel something. Whether the "something" in question is good or bad is a completely different subject.
Trish: BLOOMING TEA!!!!!! There are these amazing, handmade tea balls you put into hot water, so that they can open up and start to "bloom" into a flower. They often hold an actual flower inside, too. The whole brewing process is a true spectacle, it's beautiful. Each is unique, the mesmerizing rite of transformation into the full bloom is eye-catching and very much unique!
They often combine two types of tea (typically green and white as far as I've seen) which makes for a very unique flavour profile, along with the added floral aroma.
Fun fact: Blooming tea used to be a symbol of status, used for looking rather than drinking - however, much like the ball it starts out as, it has evolved into a form of art that both looks and tastes incredible.
They tend to taste a little bitter, in my experience, but it's a part of the charm.
Honorable mention: Fancy teas. Like overall. Da Hong Pao? That's an everyday staple. As a reasonable person, you can't have a breakfast without it. Duhh!
