Too many passwords in my life
One symptom of becoming internet dependent is subscribing to too many different online
services that you begin to forget the various passwords.
I’m going through a kind of password blackout.
I’ve got passwords for three email accounts, then there is Facebook, Amazon, I-tunes, two blogs, Stumble upon, P-interest and the endless other sites I’ve ordered stuff from. I consider myself rather conservative about what I do on the net.
Obviously you can’t have the same password for everything for logical reasons. I try to memories the most important on my computer but what about when you’ve got a new computer? I guess keeping a list of passwords tucked away in a special spot is like an address book that gets updated every year just in case your computer crashes and all of your back up goes up in smoke. (Call me obsessive!)
Perhaps the best thing is simply to stop making up new passwords that are destined to create
confusion, like those annoying discount cards or useless frequent flyer points. I need to stop cluttering my life with subscriptions and minimise the danger of password black out.
