WELL THEN. [DQH Voice Combing]
I’ve been doing SOME combing over the voice files I mentioned in my above download, and I’ve learned some interested stuff so far. I’ve hardly gotten more than a 1/3 of the way in, being there’s like 3260~ files.
As many game players and designers are aware, there’s plenty of stuff that doesn’t make it into a game right? Well, interestingly enough, I found plenty of voice samples of that kind, but the surprise is that they’re all in english despite the fact the game was translated into english after the final product was done. I haven’t found any Japanese lines so far.
1. Appearantly tension was originally planned to be done like it was in the RPG titles, going from one level to the next, according to dummied out Gragwort files. He also has a lot of dummied out lines in general where he comes off more like a focused teacher than just someone who’s half-interested in what you’re doing. (also a lot of tutorial-equse stuff like Healix does for to at the beginning)
2. A lot of the characters (even Healix o.o) speak out the name of multiple characters’ skills and spells, including stuff like the Heal spells, Insulatle, KaClang, etc. Listening to Terry and Psaro perform Hustle Dance is hillarious. XD
3. A lot of monster related dialouge about certain skills and traits as spoken by specfic characters was also dummied out, i.e. Bianca moping about having to fight Sabrecats, Alena and Kiryl commenting on Muddy Hands and Rockbombs, Nera and Yangus talking about Golems and whistles, etc. :V
4. Most of the characters have lines that seem to indicate the idea of choosing a main character OTHER than just Luceus or Aurora as the main was possible, or at least maybe for solo quests.
5. Healix has sounds that actually imply he was originally meant to be PLAYABLE. :O
I’ll post more later, and I’ll see about throwing up some samples in the future. I have a LOT more sorting to do. :V
