OKAY BUT LISTEN: you can control a raptor’s feet by pulling the middle front + back toe away from each other because there are tendons in the feet that lock into place. It doesn’t hurt the bird at all but when you do it makes the most awful sounding noise on the face of the planet, like a horrible organic zip-tie getting pulled
also if you put your hand in the center of the foot and the bird clamps down you probably will need to go to the ER so the careful awkward foot-touch is required
