Here I am with another DragonVale and Godzilla fusion. Unlike Malefice x Gigan, I think this one should have stayed on paper since I have quite the trouble of recreating Techno's gradients.
This results one atrocious mess I've got stress on coloring, but so is the Techno Dragon.
I fused these two because I think the body shape and long limbs fit nicely...
Wouldn't count this as a Techno Dragon redesign... or should I?
Self care is impulsivly making a techno dragon, drawing it, then inking. All in school. It’s great.
Evil Zane Chapter 10
The battle breaks out in Ninjago City, and it’s metal against flesh for Zane.

(Sorry...there’s going to be 11 chapters plus an epilogue...Chapter 10 just got so long so fast....)
Chapter 10
“Finally! I was wondering where you all were at!” Zane yelled from on top of his dragon as it landed in the street amidst the ninja and titanium ninja. Zane grinned from high up as the ninja all glanced between the Titanium Nindroid to the Techo Dragon to the Titanium Ninjas. “Turns out,” Zane continued, “I can’t defeat you all by myself. But if you had to face more of me-but as you- then I get what I want and you will all go down by the hands of your friends!”
Lloyd looked around in panic. Zane was right-if they don’t do something quick, it would really be the end.
Zane gestured his arms at his creations. “My allies, the Titanium Ninja, are programmed with every martial art and combat move known to this world and they are programmed to only take orders from me. And don’t try having a conversation- they aren’t built for chatter.” The evil robot grinned and then lifted his hand. “Titanium Ninja-destroy!”
The five Titanium Ninja struck at the same time.

Cole instinctively dodged Jay’s metal arm as it swung towards his face. Cole grabbed the swinging arm and tossed the light robot over his head. “Whoa,” Cole muttered to himself as the robot Jay easily lifted off of the ground. “Who knew you were so light!”
Cole spoke to soon. As the robot sailed away from Cole, the feet morphed into a new shape and fire blasted out of the bottom. Titanium Jay righted itself in the sky with its new feet boosters and then aimed and projected himself at Cole. “Uh oh,” Cole muttered as he tried to jump out of the way but was half a second too late. The flying robot slammed into Cole’s front-side and they went flying.

As soon as Zane said destroy, Titanium Kai shot a wave of fire at Nya. She formed a water force field at will and then flipped over a car to hide herself. Peering at the robot through the glass window of the car, she was relieved to see that the steam mixed with the water had hidden her escape. The robot turned its head and began to scan the area. Nya snuck around the car and quietly approached it from behind. She silently unsheathed her sword on her back and raised it to strike when the robot head swiveled a full 180 degrees. Nya yelped in shock and disgust. The robot turned the rest of the body around and prepared to make Nya toast, but Nya struck with her sword and they broke out into battle.

Titanium Nya squeezed harder on Jay’s throat. Jay gasped for the breath that he couldn’t find. Acting fast, the ninja inspected the robot that was pinning him to the ground and choking him. The robot was accurately sized, so it was around the same height as Nya. Based on the weight, the robot was not built to be easily moved. If the choking failed, enough time under it would definitely kill him. Jay needed to shock the robot to make it short circuit, but he needed a way to make the shock go into the robot’s system. The robot was completely and evenly covered with metal with no visible openings-except one.
This is my first time doing this, and I don’t plan on doing this again, Jay thought to himself as he pushed himself upwards and locked his mouth on the robot’s open mouth.
Cringing, he felt the hand on his throat tighten even more but it was too late. With a huge burst of energy, Jay focused a dangerously large charge of electricity to shoot out of his mouth and into Titanium Nya’s body. The robot convulsed and Jay kicked the spazzing robot off of his body. Taking in huge breaths, he promised to himself to never kiss a robot again.

Kai watched as Titanium Lloyd’s arms twisted themselves into dual swords. Kai unsheathed his two swords and raised an eyebrow. “So, who strikes first? I strike or you strike?”
The robot raised his swords and charged. With an expert move, Lloyd launched himself into the air and whipped his swords around to connect with Kai’s face. Kai raised his two swords and took in the force and Kai scooted backwards across the pavement. They began to viciously fight, Kai grunting with every impact. Robot Lloyd countered every one off Kai’s thrusts, and Kai just had enough skill and experience to do the same. After a few seconds off intense swordplay, Kai was kicked in the chest and the fire ninja backflipped to prevent him from falling. He readied his two swords again, and the robot mirrored him.
Kai grinned under his hood. “Finally,” he said unexpectedly. “A worthy opponent!”
With that, the two charged again.

Lloyd unsheathed his swords in front of the metal replica of Cole. However, as if Cole had some magical force, the swords were pulled straight out of Lloyd’s hands.
“Whaaa..?” Lloyd gasped as the swords flew straight into the robot’s hands. With a clang, it tossed the weapons aside.
Lloyd tightened his fists and narrowed his eyes. Titanium Cole lifted its hand to the side and a small but powerful buzz electrified the air. A car a few paces away slid towards the robot’s open hand.
“Electromagnets…” Lloyd realized suddenly. Titanium Cole grabbed a hold of the car and swung it towards the Green Ninja. Lloyd launched himself into the air and quickly flipped as the car flew under him. Robot Cole lifted his hand and the car raised a bit suddenly, but Lloyd was ready. He used the car as a launch pad and projected himself toward the robot as he conjured a powerful blast of green energy.
The robot raised its other hands and a manhole cover was pulled off the ground and used as a shield. Lloyd didn’t let up, and his arm casts surrounded by green energy slammed into the metal cover.
The blast forced the metal circular plate to fly into the robot and it was projected backwards. Lloyd had braced for pain, but none came. With a surprised expression, Lloyd inspected his casts. “Awesome!” he grinned as he launched himself back at Titanium Cole.

Zane, who was perched on his dragon, smiled down maliciously at the chaos erupting in the streets below. With a light touch to his left ear, the nindroid connected to his ally in the factory. “How are the ninja holding up?”
The static cackle of the Mechanic responded. “The enemy ninja don’t look so good. Our ninja are performing better than expected.”
“Excellent,” Zane grinned as he eyed Titanium Jay land a strong blow on Cole’s rib. “Once the ninja are taken care of, I shall lead the Titianium Ninjas to greatness! We will be the greatest thing to have ever happened to Ninjago!”
A burst of yellow and blue flames caught Zane’s attention. Nya had barely escaped from becoming a fried ninja from Titanium Kai and his fire blasters. A few feet over, Jay was slowly climbing to his feet after being choked, but failed to see Titanium Nya’s invisible cloaking device activate. Kai and Titanium Lloyd were going to make history for the best sword fight ever- but the living opponent was weakening fast, and Lloyd was struggling at finding Titanium Cole’s weakness.
Zane smiled. This was going better than expected.

Cole and Titanium Jay were viciously dancing with each other. The robot’s height was about a foot shorter than Cole’s, but it was to Cole’s disadvantage. The silver android was easily dodging Cole’s kicks and punches.
In exasperation, Cole groaned and swung widely, but again missed the agile robot. “You are just as annoying as Jay is!” He growled.
“Cole? Can you hear me?” Sensei Wu’s voice suddenly spoke through Cole’s ear piece.
“Loud and clear!” Cole grunted as robot Jay landed a punch on Cole’s lower side.
“We are almost to the city. Do you have control of Zane?” Sensei continued.
Cole glanced up at the back of the Techno Dragon, where Zane sat looking down at the fight in front of him. “Not yet. I’ll get it done soon.”
“Hurry Cole,” Sensei barked. “We must get this solved as soon as possible!”
Cole winced as robot Jay slammed his foot into Cole’s tender spot. “Why would you do that?” Cole squeaked in pain. He swallowed down throbbing knot that formed in his throat as Jay swung another quick cross punch to Cole’s forehead.
The robot was stopped suddenly as Cole grabbed the fist mid swing. “You know,” Cole said as he still squeaked past the pain. “I’ve always secretly wanted to do this.” He confessed to Titanium Jay.
With his fist aglow, Cole punched the side of Titanium Jay’s face.
The robot didn’t explode, but the side of the face that Cole punched crumpled like paper. The robot sprayed sparks and the red glowing eyes faded. It collapsed to the ground, defeated.
Cole fingered his ear piece. “Jay, I’m going to need you to give Zane a huge shock to put him out of sorts.”
Jay’s static muffle responded pretty quickly. “Can-do! How are we going to get him off of his dragon?”
Cole glanced at his hands. “I may have an idea.”
“Uh… is it a good idea? Or an idea that could possibly kill you?” Jay asked worriedly.
Cole focused his attention on the center of the dragon’s body. “A good idea that could possibly kill me. Well, more like something that could possibly kill me that just happens to be a good idea.”
“Can you expand on that?” Jay squeaked.
“Something is about to expand!” Cole clenched his teeth and tensed his body. He could feel energy surge through his body as he tightened his fists that glowed a brighter orange than ever before.
He took off running towards the dragon, each stride longer than its last. Eventually, the power and strength in his fists projected Cole forward and straight into the giant metal dragon.
Cole expected a larger impact but he slid through the shattering and crumpling metal like he had dived into pool water. The sound was horrendous; the dragon roared in synthesized pain but it wasn’t a typical roar- it was like metal was being torn apart and being mashed together by force. As Cole flew through the metal dragon he couldn’t help feeling a twinge at his heart as the dragon fell to pieces around him, but the roar of pain and the crunch of metal weren’t loud enough to cover the wail that emitted from the nindroid as his pet was ripped to shreds beneath him.
Cole flew out from the front of the chest as the dragon literally crumpled to the ground behind him. He slid to a stop on the pavement next to the blue ninja with his fists glowing brighter than ever before. Jay stared at the black ninja with eyes full of fear and awe. Cole turned back to the destruction.
The roar had died but a cry rose from the metallic ashes. “WHAT DID YOU DO?” Zane bellowed from the center of the dragon. The robot rose from the steam and smoke and all Cole could see was the black outline of the robot and two furious red eyes. With a piercing scratch of metal on metal, Zane whipped two blades-each about the length of a hand- from his upper wrists, and the armor flickered to life.
Jay took a step back. “I….think you can handle this one,” he said with a shaky voice.
“No,” Cole barked as he narrowed his eyes. “We are doing this together.”
“Plan?” Jay asked quickly as he pulled out numchucks. Cole glanced at his weapons, his fists.
“We need to rip open part of his exo skeleton so one of your bolts can put him in a temporal state of shock. That should give us enough time to get him onboard and to insert Echo’s chip.”
As Cole finished, Zane lunged. Cole lifted his hands as Zane brought the knives down on the orange fists.
The knives shattered.
Cole raised an eyebrow at the shocked nindroid. “How…?” the robot started to say before Jay flipped over Cole and landed on Zane’s shoulders, forcing the robot to the ground. Jay began to whack the robot’s face with the numchucks, which was not doing anything.
“This isn’t going to work if I don’t have anything sharp!” Jay yelled at Cole. Cole frowned and looked around. Nya was battling Titanium Kai, whose metallic arms spewed fire. Lloyd was fighting a titanium version of himself, which freaked him out, but it was hand to hand combat. A few paces away Kai and Titanium Lloyd were in a double blade sword fight, and it was intense.
Cole tapped the side of his hood. “Kai! Do you read?”
“I’m a little busy!” Kai screamed back as Lloyd almost chopped off the top of his hair. “NOT THE HAIR YOU SHINY LITTLE-“
“We need one of your swords!” Cole interjected as Jay resorted to punching Zane in the face while yelling random stuff about friendship.
“Are you kidding?” Kai yelled back. “I can’t fight this thing with one sword! I’ll die!”
As Kai said that, Zane kicked Jay off of him and stood. Cole gulped. “Challenge yourself then.” He murmured.
The screen on Zane’s face flickered but then was restored. With a yell, Zane lunged at Jay on the ground. Cole lunged at Zane and deflected the robot from hurting the blue ninja.
Kai was silent while Cole and Zane tussled on the ground. Finally, there was a clang by Cole. He quickly glanced over where one of Kai’s swords had landed. “You’re right!” Kai said, and Cole could hear the smile in his voice. “It was relatively easy before, and I love a good challenge!”
“Thanks Kai!” Cole spat as Zane punched him in the face. “Jay! The sword!”
“On it!” Jay answered as he appeared next to Cole. He picked up the sword and with an expertly placed swing, the blade ripped a large cut in Zane’s face.
“Now Jay!” Cole yelled as he kicked Zane into the air. Jay dropped the sword and with a yell he shot a powerful bolt of lightning at Zane’s open “wound”.
Zane made a robotic “gurgling” sound as he hit the ground. His body convulsed then laid still.
The two ninja peered over the robot. “Nice shot.” Cole commented.
Jay looked over with a gleam of light in his eyes. “Why thank-“
By some invisible force, Jay was lifted into the air and thrown onto the ground painfully.
“What the-?” Cole gasped. Jay groaned as he tried to stand, but was punched by the invisible force. Cole lifted his fists, but he couldn’t attack what he couldn’t see.
Jay scrambled to his feet and electricity curled and snapped off of his hands. The two best friends looked all around for the invisible enemy.
There was a loud pop as something came in contact with one of Jay’s electrified fists. A figure suddenly blinked into sight as it stepped back, covered in sparks. Cole instantly recognized Titanium Nya’s figure as her cloaking mechanism blinked on and off, and eventually the robot vanished again.
Jay turned to Cole. “You get Zane onboard the Bounty, I’ll deal with my metallic girlfriend!” He said with a laugh, and suddenly the lightning that crawled on his fists spread across his entire body so that he was a metallic trap to touch.
Cole nodded as a huge shadow crossed above him. Looking up, Cole saw the Bounty flying overhead. With a smile and a surge of hope and pride, Cole bent down and ripped the black and red armor off of his damaged and hurt friend. “Alright tin can,” Cole murmured as he lifted the robot over his shoulder. “Let’s get you repaired.” With that, Cole lunged into his Airjitzu formation and lifted into the air towards the flying ship, leaving the battlefield of ninja versus nindroid behind.

Cole slammed Zane on the counter of the giant console of the bridge and quickly reattached his cord from the console to the side of his head. Sensei Wu and Misako rushed over.
“What is happening in the square?” Misako asked, the eyes behind her square glasses swimming with worry.
“Zane built more versions of himself,” Cole explained as he grabbed the glass container that held Echo’s motive chip. “Except, there’s one for each of us-that are us.”
Sensei sighed. “So the ninja are fighting themselves as robots?”
Cole shrugged as he popped the container opened. “Yeah, I guess so. It’s like that one time when Garmadon made evil versions of us with his Megaweapon…but only they are robots this time.” Cole looked up and saw blank and confused stares from both Sensei and Misako. “Oh right,” Cole mumbled. “You both don’t remember that.”
Cole turned to the screen where PIXAL was looking down at Zane with a sad yet loving gaze. “PIXAL,” Cole said. The robot on the screen looked up. “Yes, Cole?” she answered.
“Tell me what to do,” Cole said, lifting the motive chip. PIXAL smiled, then began giving directions.
Evil Zane Chapter 7
As some of the ninja discover an essential piece of information about Zane, the first battle against Zane continues in the Birchwood Forest.

Sparks went flying as Jay focused his energy on repairing the control panel of the Guardian. Nya and Lloyd were going through the bottom drawer for the third time searching for the unknown answer to what made Zane’s software much more complicated than his brother, the Guardian. “We must have missed it,” Nya spoke quickly. “Maybe its-“
“Nya,” Lloyd interrupted, putting down blueprints of a moving staircase. “Maybe it’s not here.” He said softly. Nya stared at him for a second before looking down at the mess of random blueprinted ideas.
“Or-“ Sensei Wu stood from sitting on a stool in a corner. “You are not looking in the right places.” He continued.
“Go on,” Nya beckoned.
“Assuming that this piece of evidence is important and also very valuable to Dr. Julien, then it wouldn’t be sitting around in the open or easily lost in a pile of paperwork,” Wu continued. “He would have kept it in a safe place, somewhere where nobody would have guessed it to be.”
Nya and Lloyd sat and stared at Wu. Finally, Jay looked up from his work. “You know, he has a point. There may be a secret room or something in here,” he cleared his throat very obviously, glaring at Nya.
“That’s not a bad thought!” Nya grinned. “Nice thinking Sensei and Jay.”
Sensei nodded. Jay smiled and went back to his repairs.
Nya and Lloyd began to search the tree home quickly, looking for anything out of place or important. Lloyd crawled under the bed, Nya looked under drawers, Lloyd searched for loose floor paneling, Nya searched for loose wall markings. After minutes of searching, Lloyd’s eyes fell on the picture frame on the bedside table.
He walked over and picked it up again, looking at the picture. Then, he looked around the room again.
There were no other pictures found of Zane, Julien, or any of his creations.
“Now why would you only take one picture if you had the ability to make more,” Lloyd asked himself, but it caused Nya’s head to turn.
“What do you have there?” She asked, walking over.
“It’s a picture,” Lloyd answered as he handed the frame to her. “It’s a great shot, but it’s the only picture in the home.”
Nya looked around herself. “You’re right…why only one when he could have multiple?”
Lloyd shrugged. “It’s a good excuse to hide something behind it,” he said, then froze. “Nya take the picture out.”
“I know where you are headed!” Nya grinned as she popped open the picture frame. She slid out the picture which revealed a yellowed piece of paper behind it with Julien’s handwriting all over it.
Nya and Lloyd high-fived. As Nya gingerly took the paper and began to read it, Lloyd put the picture back into the frame and placed it back on the table. “So?” he asked.
Nya read that paper like her life depended on it; her eyes were darting back and forth violently but intently for she didn’t want to miss any details.
Finally she looked up with her jaw dropped. “Motive,” she answered. “That’s it! That’s the answer!”
“Motive?” Lloyd asked. “What does that mean?”
Suddenly the tree home shook as the ground quaked from some big impact. “What in the world…” Lloyd said, looking up at the open door.
Sensei stood quickly. “Nya, come with me. Lloyd, stay with Jay. Something has happened.”
Nya pushed the delicate paper onto Lloyd’s chest and she stared into his eyes. “Don’t let anything happen to this or you are being fed to the Tiger Widow.” She pulled up her hood and followed Sensei up the stairs.
Lloyd stood frozen for a second wondering what a Tiger Widow was before Jay spoke. “She’s not bluffing you know.” he said matter-of-factly, like he had experienced it first-hand. Lloyd looked down at the paper like his life was at stake as Jay casually continued on the repairs of the Guardian.

Cole could only pause momentarily to catch his breath before Zane swung his left fist straight towards his jaw. The glowing fist blocked the blow and twisted the arm around, placing Zane in a vulnerable position once again. Grinding his teeth, Cole lunged into the air and slammed both feet into Zane’s chest while flipping, expertly landing on two feet with Zane’s face dug into the snow. However, Zane was ready for that move and twisted his left arm back, forcing Cole to lose his balance for a split second. In that moment Zane kicked the earth ninja’s right leg and Cole crumpled to the ground.
After minutes of constant fighting, Cole was unsure how much he could take from the titanium robot that couldn’t tire. His body was aching and his face felt like it was swelling from multiple harsh punches. He wanted to give in, but ninja don’t quit. Emitting a violent groan, Cole heaved his body off of the ground and turned to face the robot.
Zane was already swinging. Cole took a full-forced cross punch on his right jaw.
He stuttered backwards holding his face. The pain was unbearable, but Cole knew that it was just a rough sting that would go away in a few seconds. Zane was already moving for the next hit.
Zane stepped backwards before lunging into the air in a sideways flip. Cole knew this move, and he knew it was going to end in a left leg kick to the same side of the face. As Zane neared the kick, Cole sidestepped and ducked under the rotating body.
Zane landed, of course, but Cole was ready for the awkward imbalance the robot suffered. Using one of his newer skills of hand to hand combat, Cole grabbed the right arm and twisted it painfully behind Zane’s back and used his body to trap the left arm behind Cole’s back. Zane squirmed, but he was trapped. Cole lifted his right fist and clenched it, ready for the final blow.
And hesitated again.
Zane’s red eyes stared at Cole’s shaking fist, and then smiled. “You can’t do it, can’t you Cole?”
Cole clenched his teeth and tensed his arm more, but it still remained shaking inches from Zane’s face.
“You wouldn’t hurt your old friend, would you Cole?” Zane tempted, the grin growing. The orange glow emitting from Cole’s hand was reflecting in the shiny titanium metal, and Cole could see a reflection of him on Zane’s face.
“Shut UP!” Cole screamed, his eyes burning with tears.
“After everything we went through?” Zane continued, keeping tight eye contact with Cole. “When I rode on your back up the Mountain of a Thousand Steps? When you threw me off of Borg’s tower to attack the gun ship? When you found me first on Chen’s Island and then freed me? What did you say…oh right!” He cocked his head, and Cole felt a tear slide down his cheek. “Can you feel the love?”
Cole choked back a sob. “Stop,” Cole tried to say fiercely but it came out as a hoarse whisper. “It’s not you… you aren’t Zane…you aren’t Zane….” Cole closed his eyes and tried to focus.
Suddenly, Zane spoke again, but his tone changed. “Cole- help me!”
Cole snapped his eyes open and gasped. Zane looked hurt and afraid, but his eyes were no longer red, but back to the normal glowing blue. “The Overlord-he is too strong!”
“Zane!” Cole gasped, then let go. Zane stepped backwards messily, blinking as if he was blinded. “You need to fight him, Zane.”
Zane looked up at Cole, his ice blue eyes full of fear. “I know my true battle,” he said. He stepped towards Cole. “Can you help me?”
Cole nodded. “Anything,” he said.
The blue eyes darkened. “Good.” Zane replied as he lifted the ray gun to the side of Cole’s head.
Cole was sure he would have died if Nya didn’t shoot a blast of water at Zane at that exact moment.
The blast from the gun grazed Cole’s nose as the water forced Zane’s aim to shift. Cole scampered backwards in fear and ended up tripping on himself. As he fell backwards into the snow, Nya approached the nindroid. Zane clenched his teeth in anger and his eyes blinked back to red.
Zane glanced at the dragon, whose repairs were almost completed. “It’s nice to see you here, Nya. How do you like my first home? Nice and cozy?”
Nya narrowed her eyes. “Maybe for a vacation home, the location is a little….abandoned.” she replied sarcastically. Zane smirked, and then noticed Sensei Wu kneeling over Kai a few yards away. “Hey old man, is he dead?”
Sensei looked over. “No, but he’s unconscious. You must stop this, Zane.” He said as he lifted Kai out of the cold snow.
Zane laughed. “I can’t! It’s what I must do, you see? It’s my new motivation.”
Nya felt like she was triggered. “Motivation..” she murmured to herself. She lifted her fists. “You need new hobbies, Zane. Apparently your current hobby of roleplaying evil masterminds isn’t working for you.”
Zane frowned. “Am I not evil enough yet?” he asked. “Maybe if I turn you into a popsicle then you will take me seriously!” Zane extended his hands like he was about to shoot ice at the girl. Nya shielded herself, but nothing came.
Zane looked at his hands. “Wha…” he said, confused. He began to extend and retract his hands quickly, but his powers weren’t happening. “What happened to my elemental power?” he yelled angrily.
Sensei, with Kai’s arm slung over his shoulders, looked at Zane. “You lost your ability as an elemental master when the Overlord took over your code. It took time to lose your powers completely, but now you are no longer the master of ice.”
The nindroid stared back at the sensei. “That wasn’t in the rulebook!” He whined. “Fine! At least I have a ride back home! But I’m not leaving until I have enacted my revenge on you all!”
“You better hurry then,” Jay called out from behind everyone. They all turned to see Jay and Lloyd flanked by the Guardian, who stood a good 10-12 feet in the air. “Because we found someone who wants to enact revenge on you! Get him, Guardian!”
The Guardian, who’s eyes now glowed with life, began to move towards Zane. “INTRUDER-PREPARE TO BE TERMINATED!” He called as he began to fire his shoulder blasters.
Zane yelled in fear and dashed to the dragon. As if responding to Zane’s movements, the dragon sat up and prepared for take-off. He frantically climbed on, and the dragon flapped its metal wings to take flight. “Today, you win ninja! But soon I will destroy you all! And Cole, you are wrong- I do have allies- and I can’t wait for you to meet them!” With a last laugh, the dragon roared and took to the skies.
Cole saw Zane fly off as he sat in the cold snow. As the dragon vanished, he fell back into the snow letting out a groan of pained relief.
The Guardian turned back to Jay. “Thanks, Guardian!” Jay said with a smile. The Guardian said nothing, but instead saluted. Jay saluted back. Lloyd rolled his eyes, but couldn’t help from grinning.
Nya rushed to Sensei who was struggling with holding up Kai. She wrapped his arm around her neck and Sensei nodded in gratitude. “Ninja, we must return to the Bounty. All this fighting caused a huge commotion so I’m sure it has attracted the-“ As if on cue, a not-to-distant roar of a Tree Horn echoed through the forest. “Tree Horns.” Sensei finished.
Lloyd activated his earpiece. “Mom, we need to get out of here now.”
“I’m dropping in now. Is everyone okay?” his mom responded.
Lloyd glanced around the clearing. Kai was slowly regaining consciousness but his face was twisted in pain, and Jay was helping Cole out of the snow. Cole was also in bad shape, but it wasn’t from injuries. His expression looked like Zane had killed his spirit and left a soulless teenager.
“I hope so,” was Lloyd’s response to his mother.

Back in the bridge, Lloyd slipped a picture frame from his suit. He opened it up and handed Nya the withered piece of paper he swore to protect.
Nya took the paper but eyed the picture frame. “You took the picture?”
Lloyd shrugged. “All it was doing in the tree home was collecting dust. I’m going to put it somewhere where it will serve a purpose.”
Nya smiled warmly then turned to the rest of the team as Lloyd put the picture back together and slipped it back into his suit. “Dr. Julien invented a prototype for his creation of Zane called ‘Motive’. According to this slip of paper, the ‘motive’ allows a piece of technology to artificially have a purpose. This idea exists within robots currently, but Julien’s motive is more complex than that. It looks like he gave a motive that was completely unique and programmed with a code he designed to stimulate…” Nya paused and looked up. “Artificial intelligence.”
Kai squirmed in his seat. “I don’t know a lot about technology but the way you said that made it sound like that’s not a thing.”
“It’s not,” Both Jay and Nya said at once. Nya looked back at the paper. “Apparently it was stored in the power source…two copies of it.” Nya turned to PIXAL on the screen. “Isn’t that what I extracted from Zane and inserted into you?” PIXAL nodded in response.
“It would appear so, but the only piece remaining is what remains inside of him currently. The other was destroyed during his sacrifice against the Golden Master.” PIXAL paused, as if remembering that moment. “Sadly, that means that that piece of equipment has been permanently affected by the virus of the Overlord with no replacements or the knowledge to rebuild it, since Dr. Julien is deceased.”
The team fell silent. After a moment of dead silence and reflection, Cole spoke in a new, deadly monotone voice. “So that means that we have solidified that there is no way to stop Zane.”
PIXAL nodded somberly. “Zane is one of a kind. There are no other robots like him, so yes, Cole, there is no way to save Zane.”
