I didn’t know this publication existed but when I came across it I was immediately electrified: „Kraftwerk - Dance Forever“ is based on author Toby Mott’s incredible collection of Kraftwerk records and Kraftwerk related item and accompanied a traveling exhibition that started in the US techno capital Detroit. But the book is more than just a showcase of Mott’s vast collection but indeed an exploration of the group’s visual evolution from the early 1970s to the present day. Interestingly, Mott contextualizes and juxtaposes the Kraftwerk entries with records and posters by bands and artists influenced by Kraftwerk, an approach that showcases the German group’s far reaching influence in terms of both music and visual identity. For me the latter always was one of the major aspects for my admiration of Kraftwerk and Mott’s really brings home why I continue to revere the group and its concept. Accordingly, „Kraftwerk - Dance Forever“ is a must for all Kraftwerk lovers and highly recommended!
