It's undoubtedly premature to be thinking about cover images for the print version of Technologies of Cinema, but I just discovered artist Clement Valla's site Postcards from Google Earth, a lovingly and painstakingly compiled showcase of anomalies resulting from the way Google Earth seeks a seamless convergence of data and images. As Valla notes, "Google Earth is a database disguised as a photographic representation." Few single images are as poignant at capturing the concerns of the book.
