Tech Tuesday Prompt
Alright, yes I know I’m late for TT, but I’m gonna make up for it. I had this little idea in my head for awhile, and I thought I might try writing for a different character this time
———
“Tech?” You called through the ship, wondering where the genius was. Omega said he was inside since she was helping him, but he told her that he got it from there. “Y/n?” Techs voice called from under the control panel, “there’s you are” you walked over, sitting in his seat as you looked around, “yes, I’m here. Now, what is it that you need?” He asked, pointing to a screw driver as you gave it to him, he laid back down, fixing whatever he was trying to fix.
“I had a question, well, it’s not really a question... it’s kind of a question, that Wrecker asked” you spoke, unsure if that was the best way to put it, but it came from Wrecker, so nothing was ever going to sound good. He sighed out, “of course it’s Wrecker, what did he ask?” You knew that Wrecker never understood Techs statements and facts, or even explanations. “He asked if Coruscant was a star” you spoke, knowing he was going to go into a rant about how it wasn’t. He dropped his tool on his chest, he crawled out from under the panel, “how many times do I have to tell him, that Coru-” “Coruscant isn’t a star. I know, and I told him why it wasn’t” he watched with interest in his eyes as you explained how it wasn’t, the more he listened, the more it sounded like how he spoke about it.
A small smile spread across his lips, you remembered exactly how he explained it, even using bigger words to explain. Once you stopped, you faced him again, “right? That’s correct?” You asked, “the best explanation I have ever heard” He spoke, coming just above a whisper, “..but he still doesn’t get it” you added, which made him roll his eyes, “of course he wouldn’t” Tech was on his knees, turning around to get back to work, you watched as he carefully grabbed each tool he needed, laying on his back again “...and Crosshair said we’re out of coffee” right when he thought it couldn’t get any worse, he sat up, hitting his head on the bottom of the panel again. He held his head, glad he had worn his helmet.
“But don’t worry, I got some more” you commented, he swore he felt a few brain cells go on and off as he gathered himself again. “It’s always those two who drink coffee” “who?” “Hunter and Crosshair” he spoke out, almost giving up on the task at hand. He rested one arm on his knee that was up and balanced himself with the other on the floor. There was no better view from where you sat, “maybe I can help?” You suggested, sitting on the floor beside him as he nodded, shocked to see you offer and help him. You laid down, he followed soon after. Taking a look at the wires that connected to each other in a bothersome way if you looked at it too much. Your eyes followed one wire, that connected to the lights, then the lights to the switch, which meant the the switch would have a separate wire.
“Uh Tech, which wire is connected to the light switch?” You asked, “this one” he grabbed the thin wire between his gloved fingers, showing you which one. “Oh! Right here. That wire is in the way of the main power source. It’d be better if they weren’t all tangled up though” you spoke, reach up to pull the single wire through the bunched up ones. Connecting it back to the switch one, “there” you pushed that wire far away, so it wouldn’t fall into the main one again. “Wait, that didn’t..” he pulled out from under the panel and stood on his knees, seeing the button light up once again as the router powered up. “How did..” he didn’t finish his sentence as he took his helmet off, you closed off the little door as you screwed it back in.
He helped you off the ground with a hand, then you both sat in the front seats, looking at the vast amount of button light up and blink. “How did you do that?” Tech finally spoke, “you just need to keep in clean” you laughed lightly, he smiled, nodding. You leaned up, putting your elbows on your knees as you sat at the edge of your seat, “even if you don’t think you’re facts and knowledge are not wanted around here. I’m always listening, it’s interesting on how much you know” he watched while his heart felt like it was about to explode. He couldn’t stop that smirk that made its way onto his face. His facts... his interest.. interested you? “Well, I’m glad you find them fascinating” he leaned forward as well. Playing with a few button, “would you mind, telling me more soon?” “If that’s what you want, I don’t mind” he fixed his goggles. “I have to go check on Omega” you stood up, Tech did as well. The space between you wasn’t uncomfortable, well you liked it, but wasn’t sure if Tech did.
“Sorry” you nervously laughed, then looked at him, he was definitely a lot taller than you. He looked down, “that’s quite alright” he spoke slowly, leaning down hesitantly, you moved towards him. His hand was on your wrist, as you held his waist. You placed a soft kiss on his lips, he stopped breathing, staying in that one spot. You pulled away, looking at him, “breath” you spoke, he opened his eyes, finally taking a breath in as he blinked at you. You smiled, he pulled you in again for another, it seemed like you had the wind knocked out of you. He was gentle, like you had expected. He then let go, looking down at you, unable to make a proper sentence. “You’re welcome, I’ve got to go check on Omega” you tapped his side, smiling at him as you walked off.
He didn’t move for a long time, trying to process what had just happened. He still felt his lips tingle from the kiss, his gloved hands came up to touch them. Only for the feeling to go away, the more he thought about it, the more he found himself blushing. His chest grew warm at the thought of doing it again, maybe he just might. “Y/n!” He called after you, tripping over his helmet on his way out.
