John Elliott may run in Victorian election

A former president of the Carlton football club and one-time Liberal party president, John Elliott, may run for the Hawthorn seat being vacated by Victorias former Liberal premier Ted Baillieu, according to reports. On Friday Baillieu announced he would not contest the blue ribbon eastern suburbs seat he has held since 1999 and that he would quit politics at the 29 November poll.

What's that Saying?... A Day is a Long Time in Politics...

Pulling up in my car this morning, the 7am news just coming onto the radio; "as the ex-Premier Ted Baillieu spoke at his press conference last night...."

Ex? I'm sorry that I took the evening off yesterday to do something personal, but I have a new State leader of the Victorian Legislative Assembly?

It is a truly amazing story. A man who was groomed to govern from the right side of the House by arguably the most successful political leader in Victoria's history - Jeff Kennett - and has the qualities of honesty, integrity, humility, yesterday resigned from the position of State Premier as he believed it was the best thing to do in the interest of his party and for the people of Victoria.

I'm sorry, but this man had NO place in politics.  We need a leader with a bit of mongrel in him, a bit of snap and bite, not someone who is actually pleasant and honest.

It doesn't take long either or the knives to come out and the venom to be  spat around. The leader of the Opposition points out the party is in turmoil, in crisis and the leader has left the sinking ship.   Always the negative spin, because let's face it, what other job does the Opposition have but to oppose everything the Government does? Sorry? What was that you just said; they could actually CONTRIBUTE? I must remember to make that appointment with a hearing specialist...

Wishing you well Ted. You will stay on for the remainder of the term of office and you will give your full support to Dr Dennis Napthine with the wisdom of having been leader of the party for seven years. Because you are that sort of a man - wise and loyal.

Did some quick research on Denis Napthine and it turns out that he voted against the Abortion Reform Act. Wow I hate him already.
