Teddybear in Bloom - May 2023 The Teddybear cactus looks cuddly but it is not. It is part of the cholla family of cactus which are usually called “Jumping Cactus” because of how easily their segments can detach from the main plant and attach to you with dozens of barbed, spiny thorns. Despite its nasty disposition, the teddybear cholla is actually rather beautiful as the sun shines through its spines. It is even moreso when it is in bloom. MWM
