Feathertail and Stormfur my beloved children who get no peace.
You are born under circumstances that are deemed illegal in your society, and because of the public nature of your birth, everyone knows. You are scrutinized for every action and inaction, you have each other and your father, but it means very little when the whole clan is against you. Then, the clan puts you on trial, for the crime of being born you are sentenced to death by the paws of your mentor/your own father ( depending on if you still want Grey to die in place of Stonefur ). They refuse to kill you, and it costed them their life. Your leader did nothing to stop this, your clanmates did nothing to stop this, and worse, some Riverclan cats celebrated among the ShadowClan cats.
Riverclan destroyed the mountain of bones, but the damage was done. Featherpaw blamed herself at first, but Feathertail knows she wasn't to blame, but the leadership and clan that would happily let her and her brother die. Riverclan wasn't her home, and Starclan wasn't her God, given it was by their blessing this all happened in the first place. Then, she is chosen to fulfill her destiny by the same spirits who didn't raise a paw to save her, or her father/mentor.
She almost doesn't heed the call, but an excuse to leave RiverClan for moons... she would've never thought about returning to RiverClan if not for Stormfur coming along, but she loved her brother, and maybe he could be convinced to leave for good, too. Their travels lead them to the tribe, where Stormfur had been prophesize to sacrifice himself to save the tribe from a mountain lion. Feathertail doesn't believe it at first, refuses to, but when both her and Stormfur are on the ledge, their newfound friends trapped between a wall and certain death in the form of a hungry mountain lion, she sees how this plays out.
Storm sees the hanging, sharp stone, but Feather acts before he can. She falls with it with a toothy grin of satisfaction, as if to say, " you couldn't take him from me, I wouldn't let you "
Rambled to say I think Feathertail should be given a gun. But in the actual series it is thought at first by the tribe that Stormfur was the cat who was gonna save them, but Feather's sacrifice here is more out of spite for Starclan and spirits trying to railroad her and her brothers life than like, romantic feelings for an apprentice ( I never understood Crow and Feather and I never will )
Anyways, thank you for coming to my ted talk! ( I am so sorry it's so long )
"The crime of being born and the sentence is that your soul will know no rest, the stars that follow you will forever be dim unless your penance is achieved; by your blood. Your ancestors will sing no praise, your parentage will never rest, know oh, children of half-clans, you will never outrun this fate"
"Watch me outrun you then."
watch me sit on this ask for like a year lmao i'm so sorry ted talking anon I really procrastinated on answering this one because I didn't know what to draw to accompany it
