neon never would have thought that what was supposed to be just a trip to Thailand for their best friend to look around before moving would result in both of them staying, especially not because of a boy.
Now, I bet you’re wondering what happened. Let's start with some of the basics — the two best friends met when Neon was a senior in high school and Solar was a junior. While they had only been casual friends for that time, when Solar was a senior and visiting the college she would be going to, she ran into Neon and they began getting closer. Their friendship going on 4 years. Now here Neon was traveling to Thailand with her so she could get a feel for the place before she moved for school.
Neon’s POV-
We had barely even got off the plane before Solar dragged me out to party. We had spent half of the day sitting down and she said she needed to let loose, whatever the hell that means.
We walked into a karaoke bar, which I shouldn't have even been surprised about. Solar had been talking about this place since she found out she would move here. I shook my head but decided to let her just have her fun.
She began ordering both of us drinks quicker than we could drink them, quickly getting us tipsy but she looked genuinely happy so i let it be.
Everyone in the bar seemed to either be tipsy or drunk by now, and everyone had begun pushing their friends on stage to sing. I chuckled as I took a sip of whatever Solar ordered this time but quickly began choking on it as Solar pushed me forward.
my head snapped towards her but she just smiled and continued pushing until I was on stage. I sighed, again accepting my fate. While accepting my fate I decided I'd give everyone a show and picked Axel F by Crazy Frog.
The crowd seemed to be enjoying it but I kept my eyes on solar, making sure she didn't do anything stupid while I wasn't with her. I noticed as she walked towards a table of 6 guys.
Once the song finished I queued up a new one, only hopping off stage to drag solar on with me.
“Neon!” Solar waved me over, and I nodded.
“Solar, come on, I queued a song for us.” I grabbed her arm gently but she shook her head.
“Meet the guys. I made us new friends.” She smiled brightly, nudging her head at them.
I bowed to them before turning back to her. “Come on, it’s our song.”
I grabbed her arm again and this time she let me, looking over her shoulder to talk to the guys before happily walking on stage.
What better song to follow up after Axel F than I Am A Gummy Bear. When Solar first arrived at college we had gotten drunk and made choreography to this song and shockingly we both remembered it.
The crowd got loud once again, laughing and enjoying the performance. When we finished solar dragged me back over to the table once more. One of the guys pulled a chair over for me while another guy did the same for Solar.
“This is Teetee, Save, Wave, Mick, Ken, and Luke.” Solar smiled as she gestured to them. All of them bowed slightly as she did.
“This is my best friend Neon.” Solar continued, smiling at everyone.
“Oh, Neon. Luke and Ken go to the college I’m going to go to!” Solar excitedly spoke, as Luke nodded along.
Solar had gotten up and walked to the bar with Save, Luke, and Ken. Leaving me with TeeTee, Mick, and Wave.
TeeTee turned to me, a gentle smile on his face. “I liked your performance. It was silly.”
I chuckled, not expecting that but nodded. “Thank you. I mainly did it to make people laugh.” I admitted.
Solar and the guys walked back over, and she handed me a new colorful drink. I accepted, nodding at her as I turned back to TeeTee.
“Can I get your number? They asked me to make a group chat so we could show you guys around tomorrow.” TeeTee held his phone out, I chuckled again before placing my drink down to put it in.
We stayed out for a few more hours, only leaving once Solar fell asleep on Mick’s shoulder. The guys took us back to our place before bidding farewells.
Thankfully solar slept the whole night and even slept in, yet I still woke up before her. I began getting ready for the day, the group chat already awake and discussing plans.
Waking Solar up was always harder than it needed to be, especially when she had been drunk the night before. But the two of us finally got out and met up with the guys.
We ended up at a calm cafe, which didn’t stay calm once the 8 of us entered.
“So, do you guys work and go to uni?” Solar asked as she messed with the straw of her drink.
“Yeah, we’re actually actors.” Save replied, Solar and I shared a look.
“What kind of acting?” I asked as I stole some of solar’s cake.
The guys shared a look before laughing.
“You know yaoi? Or boy love?” TeeTee asked, and I nodded.
“Yeah, Solar loves that kind of stuff.” I replied, gesturing to her.
Solar squinted at them before laughing.
“I thought some of you looked familiar. But to be fair I lurk on like everyone who follows me.” Solar replied, making me laugh.
“Don’t you have like 60 thousand followers?” I looked at her confused. She chuckled and nodded.
“You looked at each account?” Mick asked, just as confused.
“Yea, I mean why not. Especially when I am bored I just look through their accounts.” She replied as if it was the most normal thing.
“So if we follow you are you going to lurk?” TeeTee asked, and she nodded.
“Of course, especially you P’ TeeTee.” She teased, making everyone laugh.
Once we finished at the cafe a small debate broke out, where to go next. TeeTee wanted to go to the mall while Solar wanted to go to the markets.
Mick, Luke, Ken, and Save wanted to go with Solar since they hadn’t gone in a while while Wave and I wanted to go shopping with TeeTee, but somehow Solar convinced Wave to go with the bigger group leaving TeeTee and I.
As TeeTee and I began walking away Solar winked at me before pulling the other guys with her.
The two of us walked in silence for a bit before TeeTee cleared his throat, catching my attention.
“So, is there anything specific you’re looking for?” He asked shyly, making me smile since he wasn’t this shy last night.
I thought about it for a second before replying, “Clothes. I really like to try new things and love to get new clothes whenever.”
TeeTee nodded slowly before going quiet once more.
When we finally arrived he wrapped an arm around me, telling me about how many places he wanted to show me.
I chuckled, happy he finally didn’t seem shy anymore. I let him drag me around, even though we ended up being there for so long that my phone died.
I sighed, staring at my dark screen.
“Are you okay?” TeeTee asked, grabbing my attention. I plastered a smile on my face before nodding.
“My phone is just dead. I don’t want Solar to worry.” I replied, showing him the dark screen.
He immediately pulled out his phone and began typing before flipping it around to show me. He had texted both Solar and Luke about my phone being dead and that we would head back soon so that Solar didn’t need to worry.
I nodded at him again, flashing a real smile this time.
Due to us shopping for so long, naturally we accumulated a lot of bags. Or I should say, I accumulated a lot of bags. But TeeTee carried them, anytime I reached forward to grab one he would get to it first, flashing his puppy-like smile.
On the way back apparently the group asked for us to grab food, so we did. When we finally got back, teetee still refused to let me carry anything, even though it looked like he was about to drop everything.
We all ended up at the place where Solar and I were staying, as we walked in it was already loud. Solar was talking with Ken and Luke about their majors while the other three were playing phone games, yelling stuff at one another.
TeeTee placed the food down on the table, grabbing all their attention.
“Thank you P’ TeeTee.” Solar smiled widely up at him before pulling everything out.
We all ate, talking about random things and they somehow all ended up staying the night with us.
It had been two weeks since then, and we had gotten a lot closer to the group of boys. There hadn’t been a day we hadn’t seen them.
TeeTee and I were out just the two of us, again. Which had honestly become normal. TeeTee and I would agree on something, someone else would want to join and Solar would manage to convince them to join her instead.
And honestly I loved her for that, because somewhere between the set up solo hangouts and group hangouts I looked forward to spending time with him.
Something about how he spoke softer to me, smiled longer, the way he cared about small things, like always remembering my orders and carrying my stuff for me. I started seeing him differently, more romantic than friendly.
We found ourselves walking around the markets, a comfortable silence between us when TeeTee pulled me over to grab something to eat.
I looked around from where we were standing, but he used his finger to guide my face so that we made eye contact.
I smiled at him before tilting my head, curious on if he needed something.
“I know this is a bit fast, but..” He paused, biting his lips and no longer looking in my eyes.
“But?” I questioned, trying to make eye contact once more.
“Would you like to go on a date with me?” He blurted, my eyes went wide. But as his words sank in I smiled and nodded. He smiled widely before feeding me.
Once I got back to mine and Solar’s place I ran into the room where she stood drying her hair.
“You will not guess what happened today.” I spoke through pants.
“TeeTee asked you out.” “TeeTee asked me out.” We both spoke at the same time, but different tones.
Solar hadn’t even looked up at me when she spoke, just continuing to dry her hair. While I was excited. I paused, looking at her confused.
“How did you know?” I asked, plopping down on her bed, which she quickly shoo’d me off of.
“First of all, why are your outside clothes on the bed? Secondly, who do you think hyped him up to do it?” She questioned, as she sat down.
“Oh, I guess that makes sense.” I replied, before smiling at her.
“So, what did you say?” She asked, smiling up at me.
“Yes, of course. Well, to be fair I didn’t say anything but I nodded.” I explained, rubbing the back of my neck.
Solar shook her head, but patted my back.
As each day got closer to our date I got more nervous, which is how I ended up having Solar and Wave helping me get ready.
“You look great.” Wave smiled at me as Solar nodded.
Solar barely spoke the whole time, only making small noises as she paired things together and fixed small things.
“Done. I am such a good friend.” She crossed her arms while staring at me.
As if he knew when to arrive there was a knock at the door but I stayed frozen in place, Solar shook her head and went to open the door.
“Hey P’ TeeTee, come in! Neon is ready!” She happily spoke, showing him into my room where I still sat frozen.
“Hey, guys. Neon, you ready to go?” He smiled brightly at me, extending his hand out to me. I looked up and instantly smiled, taking his hand in mine.
He gently pulled me up, waiting for me to be stable to wrap an arm around me. He guided us towards the door, bowing just slightly at our friends inside before walking out.
I looked over my shoulder, waving at Solar before leaving.
By the time we got there I had expected to see a lot of people but there hadn’t been many people at all. TeeTee smiled at me as he intertwined our fingers and pulled me inside.
We played random games before he got distracted by the row’s claw machines.
“Look at this puppy stuffed animal!” TeeTee beamed, already determined to get one. I leaned against the machine, letting him try his hardest to get one.
He had already tried 4 times and was getting annoyed, I chuckled as I moved to try.
“You have to be patient, they are meant to annoy you.” I looked over to him before hitting the button and thankfully getting it.
I could only imagine how embarrassing it would have been if I said that and not got one. I crouched down, grabbing the stuffed animal and holding it out to him.
TeeTee smiled, grabbing the stuffed dog and holding it tightly to his chest.
“You really are amazing, Neon.” He smiled again, extending the dog out and booping its nose on my cheek before holding it tightly once again.
He grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers once again and dragging me to another section of the arcade.
Who knew an arcade had more than just games, because he dragged me to bowling. But whatever makes him happy.
We only played a few rounds, but honestly we weren’t playing to win. We were just having fun, rolling the ball together, him standing behind me to help me roll the ball, everything remotely cute and flirty.
Needless to say my cheeks were a bright shade of red the whole time.
Once we finished bowling he dragged me to get food, he ordered like one of everything and proceeded to feed me, and even begged for me to feed him. Which I did, who was I to say no to such a cute guy.
The smile that moved across his face when he got what he wanted made my heart skip a beat. I couldn’t help but stare at him in admiration as he messed around with the stuffed puppy I won.
We ended up going to play more games for a couple more hours. We stayed until closing, but had a lot of fun and couldn’t stop laughing as we left.
We were walking back, our hands intertwined when TeeTee stopped us in front of a bakery. I looked at him confused, assuming they’d close soon.
He ran inside, asking me to wait outside for a moment. When he returned he came out holding a box. He guided us to a table and had me sit down, placing the stuffed dog in my lap.
He slowly opened the box, revealing a frosted cake with blue words on the top reading, ‘Will you be my boyfriend?’
My eyes went wide, my neck snapping in his direction. I blinked a few times, trying to make sure I wasn’t imagining it.
“I know we haven’t known each other all that long, but I wanted you to know I like you before you went back home.” TeeTee spoke shyly, just like how he had when he talked to me the day after we first met.
My cheeks got red and I tilted my head, truly not expecting this.
“Yes.” Was the only word I could get out.
TeeTee’s eyes went wide and he pulled me up into a hug, squeezing as tightly as he could.
“Can’t…Breathe…Too…Tight.” I managed to get out, he quickly let go, grabbing my shoulders as he looked into my eyes, a smile on his face.
Over the next few days the whole group of us were trying to figure out if I could stay and if I could if Solar’s school had an opening.
Thankfully I could stay and her school did have openings, once we were finally able to relax the group of us were hanging out together again. But we couldn’t drink due to us having school soon.
Solar and I had to move into the dorms, which we sadly wouldn’t be sharing. But knowing how clingy TeeTee was, it wasn't like I’d really stay at the dorm much anyway.
TeeTee helped me move in, with Save and Wave also helping while Luke, Ken, and Mick helped Solar.
The 8 of us stayed up late just hanging out, waiting for the next love story to hit one of us.
