Happy Aromantic Awareness Week!
Fun Fact: It wasn’t till fairly recently I figured out I was this way. And I wish I did so sooner. It was hard to come to terms with though, as aromantic and asexual people are usually the most shunned in the LGBTQ+ community, outside AND in. Part of me was afraid that I wouldn’t be accepted, having been both, but after learning from people online that identify this way that after accepting themselves like this that they immediately felt better, I followed suit. It’s hard feeling like an outcast in a world where love is very much a societal norm, but trust me, it’s okay, you’ll be okay. You’re not weird, you’re not wrong, you’re not broken. Don’t try to fit yourself into a jar that clearly doesn’t work for you. The one thing the queer community asks for is happiness, and you deserve that too.
AKA, this is a comic I wish I had for my younger self.
