Uma Pakel Agro Tourism is probably one of the most famous spots in Ubud where you can get the best Swing ride of your life and try some "cat-poop-ccino".
Almost everything in Uma Pakel is free except when you want to experience exciting swing at the edge of a cliff. The swing ride will cost you around 10$ more or less. The swing is long and you will wear harness as a safety precaution. After your swing ride, a photo op inside a humming bird’s nest is also available.
It is also a must to try Uma Pakel’s different teas and coffees (7 kinds of tea and 7 types of coffee to be exact). My favorites include the Spice Tea and the Cinnamon Tea. If these 14 types of drinks in total will not satisfy you, try something exotic if you dare for it -- the Kopi Luwak.
As they say, this is the world’s most expensive coffee coming from a cat’s poop. Civet Cats are known to pick the best coffee fruit, and when they eat the best fruit, the fruit will also carry the best coffee bean which when civet cat defecates, the bean/s will be released and thus collected and roasted. A half a cup of Civet Coffee costs about 3.5$. It is served with a cinnamon stick to enhance its aroma and flavor.
Tegallalang Rice Terraces in Ubud is famous for its beautiful scenes of rice paddies involving the subak (traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation system). The Tegallalang rice terraces alone offers a scenic outlook that spreads down before you and away to the rice paddies on the slopes across the valley. The high roadside location is cool and breezy and it is a well-known spot for tourists to stop and take photos.
While the rice terraces serve as a highlight photo-op in the Tegallalang area, souvenir shopping options abound along the roadsides is worth its while. There are numerous art kiosks and cafes near the ledge. You can also find magnificent carvings and wooden art forms lined up along the small and winding village road. The hike up and down the terraces (plus the uneven paths) can be tiring so it is advised to wear sturdy footwear. This important detail is the one we missed. Lol. We were dead tired after this hike, but the scenery totally made the trip enjoyable.
