Tip: Prompt-it® Maxi alone with remote app
Here is some information relating to using Prompt-it® Maxi Teleprompter/Autocue on your own, with a remote control (See Teleprompt+ app from Bombing Brain):
Once you have used the Teleprompt+ app a few times (practice a bit before-hand) you will get a good feel for what is your optimum speed on the app. You can then set this as your "default" setting for all your scripts. As you use this app together with the Prompt-it® Maxi more and more, you will also improve your scripts so they are easier to read and make you sound more natural (allow for breathing and avoid "tongue-twister" words. You will also start to learn where to add extra return spaces to give you time to catch up with your text or time to breathe between sentences.
All the above will help you to avoid having to use a remote control too much. At this point, I am so used to it that I don't need a remote at all. All my scripts are easily done without, but this took some practice.
Another option is to use a "foot pedal". We have tested this one: http://airturn.com/bt-105-for-tablets/bt-105-for-tablets-and-computers
It allows you to use your foot to start/stop the scrolling. You cannot control the speed with this pedal, but start/stop is easy and reliable.
Yet another option is to have a friend use the remote control to help you. Your friend will simply speed or slow the app as you talk. But remember that YOU (the speaker) should be dictating how fast the text should be going, not the teleprompter operator (your friend).
I recommend that you download and test the app (we recommend Teleprompt+) as we think they are the best. Simply try to read your scripts while looking straight at your ipad. You can even just record your voice only a recording device (like your iPhone) and then listen back to find out how you sound and if your speed/delivery is optimum.
I hope the above helps you. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Your maxi will be dispatched on Monday so you should receive it towards the end of the week.
