Interview: Tellison

London four-piece Tellison are causing a buzz with their stunning second album 'The Wages of Fear'. You must buy this album. Fact. Their catchypop melodies, clever lyrics and exhilarating live shows mean they should be your new (old) favourite band and gracing the cover of the NME. We catch up with singer/rhythm guitarist Stephen Davidson and lead guitarist/singer Pete Phillips before they take to the stage at Camden Dingwalls, the last stop of their UK tour. They've spent the day on a "cheeky drive" from Bristol and fuelled up on "cheap Chinese food". They have English Literature and History degrees between them, work at the same cinema, and have an uncanny knack of finishing each other's sentences...

Album Review: Tellison 'Wages Of Fear'

Oh Tellison how we've missed yoooouuuu! It's been four years since their debut LP 'Contact! Contact!' and they've re-emerged just in time before being filed away under 'the most promising band not to make a second album'. And all is forgiven as 'The Wages of Fear' fizzes and sparkles by like Lucozade up the nose, with more heart and more smart than is usual in this scene.

The song titles alone ('Freud Links The Teeth And The Heart', an adorable anti-love song love song) hint that this is no inane teen snotfest.  Sure there's plenty of boing, bounce and sneer but intelligent lyrics and a clear mission to WRITE A PROPER TUNE underpin  the whole affair.
