Every so often I look back at my old photo albums and sketchbooks to ground myself and to remind myself of what I found valuable at different points in my life, what memories I want to preserve forever, and to hit the "restart button" on my direction and attitude. It forces me to think about what I find important and essential in my life now and also pulls me back to having my "anything's possible" mindset that I lived and breathed through growing up. This photo? A secret language, invented with a friend in middle school, that I used to record my "scandalous" observations on a packed bus during a high school band trip to Florida. In addition to the hilarious memory, this reminded me there are some things you never forget for whatever reason, in this case an old invented language - which I continue to use. This desire for secrecy in language was also the impetus for me to learn Japanese 🙂 #funfacts #onecoolkid #coolstorybro #tellitagain

I need a change. Friends don't seem to be around like they used to. At 25, life hasn't taken me where I planned. Moving cross country is daunting. But I am so sick of the same old same old. Might be time to just go for it ...
