What was your favourite moment of episode 3?
So this is going to sound kinda weird...but my favourite moment of episode 3 was when Louis asks Clem why she saved him (Louis route).
Most people would say the date, the party, the Lee dream or the insane boat scene - and yeah, those are all really amazing moments for me. Yet for some reason it’s that one particular scene that I think back to when I reflect upon on the episode.
Just the fact that he genuinely seemed shocked that Clem would have saved him, even after all of ep1-ep3 when they interacted together, and the fact he admits that he doesn’t think anyone else would have saved him either.
I don’t know why, but it just struck an emotional chord with me. That someone like Louis who spends his days creating fun and laughter, who cheers people up, who selflessly gives away his food to someone else - who is very much a nurturing character - sincerely doubts his own worth in comparison to Violet.
Not only is he aware that other people probably see him as less valuable than Violet, but even Louis himself does.
And that’s fucking heartbreaking.
Just hearing the genuine sound of disbelief and emotion to his voice when he looks at Clem with such a sincere expression of almost doubt(?) really says a lot about him I feel.
But you know what the worst part is? I don’t think Louis is wrong.
I genuinely think that if the other characters were in Clem’s situation, most of them if not all of them would have probably chosen Violet if put in the position of having to make an instinctive decision to save only one of them.
Not just the characters, but I think it also lampshades the players as well. Because I remember a fair amount of players actually stating that they didn’t give a shit if Louis was captured or even expressing glee when they saw him in that cell because they found him annoying (which is how the other kids seem to view him as well - and Louis is aware of this)
And this isn’t a “you shouldn’t have saved Violet” post btw, it’s really not (neither choice is “correct”). But my point is that it scarily does prove Louis’ mindset in that moment, similar to his speech during the bonding moment in episode 2 as well. Being that people really don’t see him as an effective or valuable ally in the group (which is what I’ve actually seen people say about him since episode 1) and most people use that mindset to judge the question if Louis is worth being saved or not.
I just think that moment of clarity impacted and resonated with me.
