“Have you now?” the king asked through a mild chuckle. He wasn’t laughing at his son’s words of beliefs and knew Cornelius would understand that. He knew that the lad had grown up on stories that both himself and Arista had told him before bed. Many of them were ones he made up but he had told about some of adventures before he had met his mother, just as he had done with all of his children. It never crossed Caspian’s mind that his son was referring to him though.
He tilts his head up and looks his father square in the eye. There's not that much between them now. He knows in a year or two he'll tower over the King, but for now he's ear on par. Part of him wants to come out and say that he means him. He's a hero from everything that Cornelius has heard. The way that he saved Narnia. But, at the same time he doesn't want to say something that's been said a hundred times over from a hundred different sources. He'd leave that for Alessandra. “More often than you think.” Cornelius replies, finding the words. Maybe he doesn't want to be corny, maybe he doesn't want to waste words that could mean more later in life. Either way – whilst the words 'been around one all of my life' circulates in his mind, he doesn't speak them. If anything his father should already know without him having to speak them.
