A Guide to Identifying Dragons at a Distance - British Breeds
Anglewing
Origin: Britain Weight class: middle-weight (b.5,ch.5,p.77), larger than Reapers (b.1,ch.12,p.304), “only slightly more than middling in size” (b.2,ch.2,p.27), but can reach heavy-weight (like Fidelitas) (b.9,ch.13,p.226)
Appearance:
golden (b.1,ch.12,p.304), golden-yellow (b.5,ch.5,p.79)
compared to Yellow Reapers: darker shade of yellow, no white stripes, distinctly different head shapes, Anglewings have extra ribs to their wings (b.9,ch.17,p.293)
Real world inspiration: some species of the butterfly tribe Nymphalini are called anglewings
Egg: golden-brown, faintly pearlescent sides and spotted with flecks of brighter yellow” (b.1,ch.5,p.120)
Other:
Anglewings can manoeuvre in tight circles (b.1,ch.6,p.137), are agile (b.5,ch.15,p.290), the rotating movement of their wings when manoeuvring is a bit similar to Temeraire’s when he is hovering (b.1,ch.12,p.304)
some are vain about their flying abilities and like to show off (b.5,ch.5,p.77)
Fidelitas can sustain 16 knots [ca 30 km/h, 18.5 mph] (b.9,ch.17,p.292)
there are less Anglewings than Yellow Reapers and Anglewings are less clannish than the Reapers (b.5,ch.2,p.28)
Known dragons:
Fidelitas (m.) – Poole
Obversaria (f.) † – Lenton
Orchestia (f.) – Fenter
Palliatia (f.)
Velocitas (m.)

Scribble Saturday! aka post whatever sketch you feel like, in my case some Anglewing sketches
tagging @buffaluff, @nighttimepatrons, @stackarsskelett, @lordbrezel, @cannibalhellhound, @hippolotamus and anybody who wants to join!
Looking through old art I also found my first Temeraire fanart! And apparently the very first wasn't the Mauerfuchs like I thought, but a sketch of a Celestial! This was a really fun trip down memory lane back to when I stained a lot of paper with tea; these are not the first dragons I ever drew but they have definitely evolved since then.
Sketch of an Anglewing and an original dragon breed called Rheingüldling. The Rheingüldlinge are golden middleweights with green markings, mostly lurking around the Rhine valley, distracting and frightening the shipmen.
