So the tensura anime doesn’t explain the whole shadow movement and summoning of one’s Tempest Wolf at all, and it’s something that had been bothering me for a while, so I was really happy when the manga actually did explain it.

In case any other any only fans were curious, as far as I understand it the Tempest wolves have the power of shadow movement, as well as telepathic communication (which the anime did mention).

Rimuru having each of the goblins pair up with a tempest wolf had the unintended effect of making the goblins honorary members of the pack, thus creating a mental link between the goblin and their wolf partner, and allowing them to speak to each other telepathically.

and so when gobta was trapped in dwargon, he used that telepathic link to contact his wolf partner, who then used their shadow movement skill to travel to where gobta is ^^

so i guess by that logic, “summoning” one’s tempest wolf partner doesn’t really require much effort on the part of the goblin, since it’s the wolf who does most of the work lmao.

i’m guessing that gobta’s ability to use shadow movement (as evidenced during his fight against gabiru) could be because his partner taught him the skill?

I tried to make a cute picture of Gobuta and his wolf. I don't get wolf anatomy and The pose is a little awkward but I'm proud of how close to model I drew Gobuta. It was supposed to be the "girl with horse" pose from a horse movie poster but... I'll let you fill in the blanks.

Ranga is the bestest boy. So pure. We stan a legend.

He’s just a big ol’ doggo who’s always really excited to do something for his master and I love that for him.

I will never not laugh uproariously at the part when Rimuru first wakes up after naming all the villagers, and Ranga is so happy to see him that he wags his tail so hard, he sends Rimuru tumbling away down a hill.

Poor Ranga’s so horrified, chasing after him and wailing “Masteeeer!!!”
