Curse of Strahd: An Angel, a Devil, and a Grandmother Walk into a Bar
Quick and very surface-level session summary for the Curse of Strahd campaign I’m DMing for @pigeonfancier, @cloudbatcave, and @rebatrolls. We had our first session today, which ran for a couple of hours. It was lots of fun, and I appreciate the amount of effort and enthusiasm you put into the RP!
And I’m sure the farmer whose field you partly burned down appreciates the 20 gold you left.
CAST LIST
Rose (Aasimar Cleric), played by Mar (@pigeonfancier)
Ursa (Dwarf Sorcerer), played by Cloudy (@cloudbatcave)
Faithfulness (Tiefling Paladin), played by Reba (@rebatrolls)
SESSION SUMMARY 1 (1/13/19)
The three of you made camp one evening while traveling with your merchant caravan, and woke up to find that you were in an entirely different forest, surrounded by mist and missing almost all of your supplies and equipment with no sign of how you'd moved. Fleeing the sound of wolves and following the smell of death, you discovered a dead body with an ominous note warning of a 'devil' and asking you to purify the land and let everyone within die. You decided to follow the small wood path near the corpse until you passed a large set of metal gates flanked by guarding statues, which mysteriously shut behind you, and walked until you found yourselves in a corn field.
In this field, you were attacked by and defeated a malevolent, animated scarecrow - but not without sustaining damage both to yourselves and to the corn fields around you. Leaving some money to make up for your property destruction, you proceeded to travel to the landowner's house, where you found two young children. They pleaded for you to help retrieve their baby brother from the third floor of the house, as their parents trapped a monster in the basement and they were too scared to go back in. Deciding to lend your assistance (and possibly hoping to regain some supplies, or even shoes), you entered the house.
HIGHLIGHT REEL
“You know, no offense, I’m a very accepting person, it’s not about which of your parents fucked a demon illegally...” - Rose (our Aasimar Cleric) to Faithfulness (our Tiefling Paladin)
“It’s a wolf Alpha, coming to tear us to pieces and drink our blood! They thirst for fresh blood, you know, they can taste the fear running through your veins!” - Rose, rolling a 4 for his Nature check and “recalling” that wolves have alphas, betas, and omegas.
Ursa (our Dwarf Sorcerer) burning down a part of a cornfield with a stray Firebolt while fighting a malevolent animated scarecrow - and proceeding to attempt to eat some of the burnt, popped corn. Rose saw fit to slap it out of her hand.
Faithfulness, rubbing his temples in the background approximately four times per hour as Rose and Ursa repeatedly set things on fire.

Curse of Strahd: An Angel, a Devil, and a Grandmother Walk into a Bar
Basic session summary for the Curse of Strahd campaign I’m DMing for @pigeonfancier, @cloudbatcave, and @rebatrolls. This time, Rose finally got to smite some undead creatures - or try to, at least, as between the three of them and despite Ursa’s best efforts to set the dungeon aflame, Faith was the main person handing out some holy justice.

SESSION SUMMARY 4 (1/22/19)
Armed, wielding scrolls, and feeling more powerful than ever (well, growing dehydration aside), Ursa, Faith, and Rose descended from a secret door in the attic all the way down to a murky, dark, decrepit basement lying beneath the Durst household.
Bearing through the stench of death and the decayed, moldy bones of bitten human victims littering the floor of an abhorrent dining room, you explored the winding basement to find multiple living quarters, mysterious crypts, and even an ominous wooden statue of a tall, gaunt man painted pale colors. Wary of cursed objects or trapped chests, your cautious efforts yielded you some highly-needed water that Rose quickly purified, as well as three glimmering green gemstones, some spell scrolls, and a silvered shortsword that Faith happily took. Just in time, too, as you followed ominous chanting and the smell of fetid death down a hallway - encountering three gaunt, pale, humanoid creatures writhing their way out of the dirt like earthworms.
After a relatively swift but brutally disgusting battle in which Faith lost a chunk of shoulder flesh to the gaping maw of a fiend, you proceeded to a larger chamber with two slumbering abominations, larger and of more acrimonious presence than the last. One laid with a suicide note in his grasp and a noose around his neck, the tail in the other’s grip - a functional leash which prevented him from lunging for you ravenously when Rose and Ursa immediately attacked him with magical fire.
And, not quite willing to suffer the existence of such undead creatures, you began to battle...
HIGHLIGHT REEL
Rose, descending into the dungeon: “I told you it was warlock nobles!” / Ursa: “They could have been terrible cultists who were not warlocks!”
Faith, mocking Rose for taking a spell scroll with a ‘Bless’ incantation written on it: “Don’t you already know how to bless things? Aren’t you a cleric? I mean, I just thought blessing was something that clerics were supposed to know how to do.”
I can’t believe that to feel guilt, Rose has to be possessed by a child... - OOC commentary by Reba
During a debate on cultist abilities, Rose is forced to admit, flushing, that he cannot contribute one way or another because he has never actually spoken to a magic-user before killing them.

Basic session summary for the Curse of Strahd campaign I’m DMing for @pigeonfancier, @cloudbatcave, and @rebatrolls. Today, our heroes suffered some rather misleading nightmares, and finally started to feel the effects of having been unable to find any clean food or water for over a day now.

SESSION SUMMARY 3 (1/19/19)
The three of you settled in for a long rest at the end of last session, and found your rest to be rather stressful. Each suffering a series of nightmares, your night culminated in awakening to find that, despite the watch you set, some mysterious thing had slipped by and left a gaping bite wound on Rose’s shoulder.
Reeling from hunger and dehydration after leaving your rooms to discover the ancient, murdered corpse of the nursemaid’s ghost, you nonetheless gathered yourselves and hoofed it (pun intended) through to the children’s bedroom in the attic of this strange house when Faithfulness beat the door in with his hooves. There, you found more long-dead bodies - this time of the children, whose ghosts once again entreated you for help before panicking and possessing both Rose and Ursa when you attempted to leave their room.
Now carrying the alternatively anxious and angry ghosts of two children, you used their assistance to attempt to find both sustenance and weaponry in the kitchens and hunting parlor respectively. Coming up with wine and crossbows, you prepare yourselves to hunt the beast of the basement - but not before stopping by the library to check out one last secret door, and discovering a bevy of paperwork that someone clearly died to obtain. As you settle in to pore over your loot, Faith pockets an unsettling book containing dire warnings and, somehow, his life story.
HIGHLIGHT REEL
“Anything that I lay my eyes upon that is not blessed with the lord’s light, I am murdering-!” - Rose, feeling a tad tetchy at waking up with a shoulder wound.
“As I was going to say, before you fondled this young lady’s corpse...” - Ursa, appalled at Rose’s manhandling of the dead nursemaid.
“Don’t say anything inappropriate in front of the fucking children,” says Rose, standing in front of the fucking children.
Faith: “What, no holy wine?” / Rose: “I’m a priest of Kelemvor, not sin.”
“Should I even drink this? Is this setting a bad example for the child?” says Ursa, currently possessed by a seven-year-old. Rose, similarly possessed by a ten-year-old and keeling over from dehydration, silently hands his bottle of wine to the unpossessed Faith.
