Khaire, my friends! Today's service will be about Aphrodite the War Queen.
Aphrodite is often seen as only a being of love and beauty but we must not forget that she is also a war goddess, lest we forget her war epithet. She is powerful as love is powerful. All is fair in love and war and to me, she embodies that.
She is a being of love but that does not mean she is without a baneful side. She can be both and we as followers and worshippers need to recognize and accept that. You cannot have the love and light without the dark and violent.
No reading today as I've been doing a lot of readings this week.
Khaire, my friends! I apologize for last week's lack of service, the topic will be recycled for another week. Today's topic by very popular demand was Aphrodite of the Queers.
This topic is very important to me as a queer woman. It is good to remember that as a goddess of love, Lady Aphrodite would 100% be someone who loves and accepts queer people, who seem to understand love in a different way than others (queerplatonic for example).
Love, in all it's true forms, it beautiful. Lady Aphrodite is the goddess of that beauty, the goddess of that love. She stands with people queer in any way, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary. Anything, any way. And my dears, this may be controversial but it is in my belief that yes, that includes xenogenders and neopronouns users.
Today's reading comes from the Deadly Apothecary oracle deck. If it does not apply to you, that is fine!
Lily of the Valley
This card is all about letting yourself feel your feelings. Nothing lasts but love is like the flowers, they fade and leave us, coming back anew in due time. It's okay to not be looking for love but if you feel it coming your way, don't hide from it. Open your heart.
Welcome to the Temple of Love, aka a digital temple of Lady Aphrodite!
I am Magnolia Ourania (she/her), I am a priestess of Lady Aphrodite Ourania, though my intent is not to flaunt the title. I am what I call a kinda-sorta adult as I am 18. I am a follower of Dionysos, Apollo and Ares but my devotion lies with Lady Aphrodite. Outside of the pagan world, I dabble in folk Catholicism.
There are two other caretakers of this temple, Jack, a devotee of both Ares and Lady Aphrodite, and Kas, a follower of Ares. They will help with scheduling, notifying temple members if things when I am unavailable and posting if neccessary. Please show them respect.
This is a generally all ages blog but any 16/18+ posts will be explicitly labelled as such. My goal with this temple is to make a safe community for those who follow the path of our lady.
We welcome Aphrodite devotees, godspouses, worshippers, followers and those interested in her path. We do not welcome queerphobes, transids, radqueers, TERFs/radfeminists, bigots of any kind and please no purely fandom folks.
If you have any questions about priesthood, devotion, or anything related to Lady Aphrodite, please be respectful. My asks are open 24/7.
Khaire, my friends! I apolgize for the late service, as you know we had a tie on the voting! But today's topic if one near and dear to me, Godspousal.
I, myself, am a queerplatonic godspouse. But what does that mean? Well, in simple terms, godspousal is a relationship to a deity beyond devotion and worship. It can be romantic, queerplatonic, sensual, ect. It is a practice that I encourage people to understand and research in their own time, learn what other people's experiences with it are.
It is a path that demands an amazing level of communication with your deity and a lot of experience. It is based off mutual consent and understanding of each other, just like mortal relationships. It is also important to be able to take a "no" for an answer and step back if that is the case.
While it is a positive thing overall, I discourage minors to persue this path. For your own health and safety.
This week's reading comes from the Deadly Apothecary oracle deck. It may or may not apply to you and that is alright.
Belladona
Belladonna is about procrastination, both from tasks and emotions. It is a card about hiding from emotions, dodging them like bullets. For a devotee or worshipper, this can look like hiding from big truths that your practice has uncovered. The best way to end this cycle is to just feel and do. It sounds easier than it is but it is an important step forward. Belladona must learn to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
