This encaustic painting was created with moths and a hummingbird. It was then left outside so that over time the bodies of the insects and the bird decomposed. I set it on fire. Then I painted it with oil paint and used a heat gun to sculpt the surface. I took a photo of the painting, took the painting inside and left the photograph outside to decompose. Then I took another photograph of the painting and nailed it onto the decomposed photograph onto the painting.
