Wow, I'm so glad I stumbled on your blog! I've always loved hanfu since I was a kid and ate up all those period dramas! I've been really wanting to get into hanfu/historical Chinese costuming for YEARS and your blog is so so helpful as an English resource (my Mandarin is terrible). Thank you so much for your work and I look forward to enjoying all your content
2/2 Sorry if you've covered this already (I just found the blog a few minutes ago; this is how excited I am) -- if I wanted to look into hanfu historical sewing and patterning, similar to Western historical costuming community, are there any English resources you could point to? I have "5000 Years of Chinese Costumes" by Gao Chunming + "Chinese Clothing (Introductions to Chinese Culture)" by Mei Hua in my to-buy list, among other books, but these sound more info-style, not practical. Thank you!!
Oh my gosh, there's an entire hanfu community on here, and it looks like the blog Hanfu Asks is what I'm looking for. I'm so happy~ Thank you for your time!
Thanks for your message! Yes Hanfu Asks are currently working on producing sewing patterns in English. I am looking forwards to her works too. I hope you will have a good time exploring. And don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. @ziseviolet has a lot of information on hanfu too. She is usually more thorough in her answers and her explanation is clearer since my English is mediocre at best.
