HIS binocular vision on the squirrels is cut short to swivel his gaze onto Pembroke with raised brows. About the eating the ‘squirrels’ thing, not the ‘dinner date’ thing. He assumes that’s his way of saying they’re going to dinner together. One of the Crusaders must have used a similar term at some point for two of them breaking off from the group to get a bite.
