Fuck It, Everybody, Meet Dave
With a thud, the crate dropped to the asphalt as he scooped out a head of lettuce, easily tossing it spot-on into the gaping maw.
“Kevin! Stop feeding it!”
“Oh come on, he’s not doing anything. Are you boy?” The tall brunet tossed another lettuce head as the beast leaned down, allowing itself to be scratched beneath the chin.
“Do we know where it came from?” When his cousin had told him to come out to her school because a turtle was eating the campus, Ben hadn’t quite expected, well, this. After all, right behind ‘The Spanish Inquisition’ was ‘House-Sized Terrapins’.
“Perhaps Doctor Animo has escaped again?” Rook was standing back farther than the humans; he’d been rather put off by the monster’s curious nibbling at his truck.
“It’s not hostile…”
“Of course not.” Kevin was still pampering the creature, which reached down and pressed its head to him in what it probably perceived as a light manner, but which easily shoved him back several feet. “He’s a tortoise. He’s just really, really big.”
“And eating everything!”
“We’ll call him Dave.”
“Oh good-!”
Prompt Posting #2- Chart (Levinstar)
Kevin sat, somewhere between awe and boredom, watching the Tennysons’ presentation on ‘Why Dating Darkstar Is a Bad Idea’. At first he’d been surprised at just how much work they had put into this, but around the video on personal safety and common sense they’d started losing him. He was beginning to expect puppet shows.
“Guys.” They paused, mid-PowerPoint, looking for all the world like they expected him to start tearing the thing apart.
“Question?”
“Yeah, when can I go? We’ve got a date.”
