[ HIDE ] - in order to hide receiver from people chasing them, sender pulls them into a tight hug while hiding their face from view. For Kaori.

kaori didn’t know how her lineage got leaked to the curse users. did they have a community they didn’t know about? she doesn’t like to kill people, curse users, or otherwise, if she could help it. but she knows she wouldn’t have any other choice if they were backed into a corner.

they turned into an alley, and megumi pulled her into his shadow. she’d been in his shadow before, which is why she knew to hold her breath. when the curse users chased them past where they were, they stepped back into the alley, but megumi didn’t let go of her, and she didn’t want him to. this was her childhood all over again, and she kept her breathing even to not break down into tears or a panic attack. the last thing she wants is to cause trouble for any others, especially her friends. defeated she leaned into his chest so he wouldn’t see the tears she wasn’t able to keep from her eyes.

it was a desperate gamble, kaori's cleve and dismantle usually worked on curses, but this special grade was able to use a domain before she knew what was happening. her fingers already knew her own domain sign; she'd wake up to it already formed on her hand and would unconsciously do it before she even knew who it originated from. it was the first time she used her domain expansion, and the special grade was gone in seconds, but the shock to her body was something she wasn't prepared for.

they were two days out from ms. shoko, and when they got home, the healing hurt almost as much as the strain of her domain. kaori's mind couldn't help but wonder if it would always be like this, or if it was because it was the first time she used it? she's never seen inside her domain before, being in it and on top of a throne that wasn't hers scared her more than facing death from a curse. maybe she can rearrange it.

she kept insisting she was fine, but she knew how stubborn megumi was. she knew he wasn't gonna leave until he was confident she could take care of herself on her own. she was too tired from arguing the past two days that she accepted him staying.

i was taking care of it. From Megumi to Tsumiki.

tsumiki’s heart broke for him. how many times did he need her while she was in a coma? how many times had he almost died while she thought he was taken care of? tears began to form, but she kept her eyelids open so that she’d hope the air would dry them before they spilled down her cheeks.

his eyes held years past his actual age, and she knew his childhood was gone. she wondered what else was gone, too. ‘ i would never expect you to kill for me. this is my burden, the last thing I want you to do is put yourself in harm’s way for me. ‘ she’s the oldest. she was supposed to be protecting him. like she’s always done since they were kids. like she’ll always do.

HESITANT TO UNFURL, she hugs her knees into her chest for a moment longer. "Yes, but—" a sharp sniff precedes a yawn and ( cautious ) stretch. A shiver follows it. "I can wait a little while longer. Ieiri-san will be here soon!" The night shift was not for the faint of heart. Everything seemed to crack off under cover of night, which meant a lot of healing. Her snack supply has been depleted: dispersed among patients to ensure proper recovery. Nothing was left for her, however, and it's something she's acutely aware of when she stands . . . or tries to. She catches the back of the chair for support, promptly flashing a smile both apologetic and ( hopefully ) reassuring. "I'm alright!" She chirps, though her legs are quivering beneath her. On the desk, she can see the alert on her phone. It's time to eat. It's been time to eat.

"Mmmmaaaaybe I could use a snack though," Fingers pinch the air before her, "Just a little one."
