"can I?" The witch voices as politely as possible.

"what?" Theo didn't expect anyone to be closeby. "Oh sure, these flames aren't going anywhere anytime soon apparently."

The witch smiles and helps herself to the flame.

"Really? Purple flame is the hardest flame out there and here you are burning away all evening!"

Theo frowns, "i have been like this since morning."

The witch widens her eyes, "What!? Have you been trying to do something with that book all day?"

"not much progress as you can see. Ghhhgggnnnn" Theo tries to concentrate and the flame gets bigger and some of the outer tongues of fire become green. When he relaxes the flame goes back to purple.

"see? That's the best I can do." He smiles.

"so you bought this book to fix it?"

"no no, it actually started because I got this book as a present!"

"can I see it for a second?" She tends her hand.

"sure be my guest." He closes the book and passes the book to her.

After a few looks at some pages, and some smiles she looks at him. "Is this your first encounter with pyrokinesis?"

"yep! I know jack squat!"

The witch with a gesture, conjured 3 tomes of varying thickness with the titles

*introduction to pyrokinesis*

*topics on fire theory*

*lecture notes on flame management*

"those looks way beyond my level of understanding." Theo backs away.

"give them a try. If you did not get anywhere with this one you have," she points to the beginner's one still in her hand, "those are your best options."

"thanks?" The smile on Theo's face wasn't as bright as he would have wanted to.

"there is a saying in the magic world: 'if it looks too easy then it is probably wrong.' it may take apparently longer to read these but give it time! Oh! Don't bother reading them from start to finish and change between them when you feel likely! That's the only piece of advice I can give you!"

Theo sighs far too soundly, "I'll do my best."

"my name is Sophia, give me the books back when you manage to be more cool!"

Theo pouts, and stick his tongue out: "my name is Theo you evil witch!"

Sophia smiles and runs away, "say that when you won't look like a matchstick! Nice meeting you and see you around Theo!"
