Magic Tag
The worst, worst thing about playing magic tag with superheroes is that superheroes start out magic. This would be a wildly unfair advantage in any tag, but the point of magic tag is to acquire temporary powers by touching special objects or standing in special places. Donna was reasonably sure that against other normal human beings, she would excel at magic tag.
But most other normal human beings didn’t know that magic tag existed, so Donna was stuck playing with her older brother, UltraFight, and his buddies: Beatrix Rotter, Super Keentastic, and Margo Mysterious. She lost every single time and before she had a chance to get so much as one measly temporary power, not even the weakest and worst of them—
She didn’t have time for any more seething resentment about her previous losses. UltraFight was counting down from 1000, and he counted super fast. Why, he was already down to 600 and she was just standing in the four-square starting area, practically in his shadow.
Donna slouched over to the dome-style jungle gym and crawled up to the top. She hooked her legs to her chest (a bit unbalanced-like. Her right foot dangled mid-air).
And suddenly began levitating. Ahah! The jungle gym was magic this time! She heard UltraFight get down to 10-9-8 . . . She didn’t care, not the least bit. She was flying! Donna raised her arms up over her head and whistled Superman. She was flying!
