i grew up with a neglectfully abusive mother who refused to take me to see doctors or give me standard treatment in part because of her schizo-affective disorder and other mental illnesses; then when i was 14 a doctor irresponsibly vaccinated me and i had an awful reaction and it compounded with other medical malpractice trauma that has left me with permanent damage; as someone with a suppressed immune system, i am one of the people herd immunity is supposed to protect; discourse around vaccination almost always contains an element of ableism that i can't really deal with; there is pretty much no way for people to talk about it where i am not suddenly and violently upset :/
