Teru’s story
Most sport anime have a character with a serious health problem (usually, it concerns the heart) who still plays their sport nevertheless. They are ready to risk everything to fulfill their dream and their will arouses the admiration of the other characters.
I like the fact they do the exact opposite with Teru.
Dance was his whole life. An accident prevented him to continue. It is a fact, a physical reality he isn't able to overcome. He would have loved to, but it wasn't possible despite his passion. It isn't only a matter of will. The body has to be able to keep up with the efforts required, especially for a high-performance sport. Teru didn't insist in this dead-end.
That's where Beyblade appears in his life.
When Teru was recovering, in hospital, he discovered the Beyblade. He found in it what he had lost with dance : a new way to express himself. To "shine", like he says. Beyblade allows him to rebuild his life. He becomes able to move forward again thanks to this new activity.
And no one tells him he took the easy way out. On the contrary, he's admired for his difficult decision.
